    Default 2017 Lionfish Safari

    It's that time again!
Reef Monitoring invites all divers to participate in the 2017 Lionfish Safari. We have been officially recognized at the world's largest safari and that's due to the participation of all of you. We couldn't do what we do with you guys.

Participants of our previous safari's will remember our cash prizes, kick ass raffle and lionfish tasting. We are bringing that all back bigger and better. We have left the Guy Harvey Resort and are hosting this 2-day festival at N. Straub Park in downtown St. Pete on September 9th and 10th. The festival is free for the public to attend. We will have food and beverages, including beer/wine/liquor, music and activities.
FWC will be on-site crowning their King and Queen for their state-wide Lionfish Challenge on Saturday.
Sunday we will be handing out our cash prizes and holding the raffle.

For divers entering the tournament, diving days are both Friday and Saturday. We will have cash prizes for Most, Largest and Smallest including 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in all categories.

Fish can be submitted the evening of harvest. Which means if you dive Friday, contact us when you get back to shore and we will meet you and process your fish. Then you don't have to worry about them the next day! Same goes for Saturday.

Local chefs will be on-site to demonstrate how to handle and prepare lionfish and they will be served to the crowd!

Our scientists will be doing dissection demos as well.

For you commercial shooters (or anyone with an SPL), we will have one or more wholesalers on-site to BUY your fish! So you could potentially shoot enough lionfish to win the cash prizes and then sell the rest!

visit Lionfish Safari for more information and to register today!

The Lionfish Safari is being postponed until next weekend, September 16-17 due to the potential impact of Hurricane Irma. This postponement will be accompanied by a change in venue, however we have not confirmed the exact location. We will be resending out information on setup, schedule, and a new event map as soon as details are finalized. If you are UNABLE to participate next weekend, please let me know as soon as possible. As always, feel free to contact me with any questions.

We appreciate everyone's patience and understanding. Please be safe over the next week, and we look forward to making this year's Lionfish Safari a success.
