Duties:
This is a non-federal position with benefits. Position serves as the Fishery Biologist for the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (Council). The selected individual will assist the Executive Director and Deputy Executive
Director in preparation, review, and coordination of fishery management plan
development. Responsible for those fisheries assigned by the Deputy Executive
Director for all aspects of plan and amendment development, analysis, review,
and monitoring from initiation of scoping documents to final submission of the
completed regulatory documents to the Secretary of Commerce. Presents
analyses performed in support of fishery management documents to Council and
its committees (scientific and industry) for review. Compiles and analyzes
biological, socioeconomic, and other technical data; makes presentations at
meetings involving federal, state, and university personnel; advisory panels; and
at public hearings.
