I used to do alot of spearfishing with a polespear and it was alot of fun.Recently tho...I went spearing and I realized that I'm seriously out of shape..I have a few guns in the house what would be recommended for 10-20ft coralheads in the lower keys?I have a Riffe (rear handle) and an AB Biller 42".I also have a polespear with a heavier band on it.
thanks

Matt,

In 10 - 20ft I am assuming you are freediving, and by the out of shape comment you want something that you can shoot from the surface, and then go down and get the fish out of the coral. :) :BoomSmilie_anim:

No seriously, how long is the Riffe? What is it you don't like about the guns you currently have? Do they not suit your needs? If you are freediving, most of the guys like a euro type gun, although a mid-handle Riffe would probably be sufficient.

I just need to develop a technique for the guns that I have I think its a competitor 3x the gun is definately powerful enough to sink a yacht I just need tips on how to use it efficiently.Out of shape means I cant hold my breath for 2:00 minutes anymore its more like 30-45seconds.

Hey Matt,

Welcome aboard. I imagine that your breathold will return quickly with some water time. The 3x should serve you well in the keys. If I'm not mistaken, there are quite a few folks here that shoot the same gun. If you are freediving, it would be a good idea to install a reel or get set up for a floatline (hawaiian breakaway) if you haven't already. Good shooting.

well I looked at the gun and it doesnt seem to be a 3x like I thought.I really dont like the way its setup either.the 3x is 50+ inches and I think this gun is only 39".Anyone interested in a small riffe? lol
