Howie, there's a lot of custom vbulletin templates out there ready to go. I haven't used one yet, but I've seen some that were pretty cool. Some are free and some you have to pay for. You should still do your own logo, but you might be able to find a good template for your site. Do a google search for "vbulletin templates" or "vbulletin design."

Alright guys, after much input we have our artwork concept. Look for it in the coming days and grauwer is almost there with the photo album. We have also recieved a couple of private donations(you know who you are) and have been contacted by a couple of potential sponsors. Our artwork and forum logo will consist of a blue ring octopus holding crossed spearguns.

Howie -

As soon as the desing is done, you guy should have some shirts made up. The sales can go to support the site...

You should also look at adding a little "Donations" box, that can donate to via paypal...

Look forward to seeing the new logo!

hogsniper

John, we have just agreed on the concept, I am going to have Rachel's do the actual artwork. Paige is out of town at a show. We will get a price from them if they will help us. They have said that they don't do graphics unless it involves selling a gross of shirts. Between you, me, and Denny-we have purchased about 5,000 shirts from them plus they have done Hell Divers shirts too. Maybe they will help even if we can't buy shirts just yet.

I think that T shirts are a good idea, but it is going to take some time to get a good logo and artwork done.

I know Spear Planet is about far more than Grogan bashing, but in the meantime why not capitalize on the current renegade feel of Spearfishing Planet and use some of the stuff that's already in our lap? I propose a T shirt with the Grogan dive profile on the back. The chest would have SpearfishingPlanet.com undeneath it would be "Not Spearboard". I know that I would buy a couple and wear one to the SPO. It would probably become one of those old retro shirts that I would pull out in future years to remind me of the great purge, our exodus and the fun we had in setting up a new site.

I wouldn't use the word Spearboard or any misspelling of it. Tony would be just the type to threaten legal action, justified or not, and that's not the kind of sh*t y'all probably want to deal with.
Caricatures, the graph, any other inside jokes - I'd go that route. They're bound to piss Tony off more than any jabs at SB.
For the back of the shirt - could someone maybe design a cowboy hat emoticon, but with red hair and a big clown nose? :D

I would stay away from anything derogatory towards Spearboard.

Let this site stand on its own, without taking it to the level of t-shirts.

I know there are a lot of frustrated and pissed off people right now, but that will pass in time, while the t-shirts will last longer...

A nice logo, with family friendly printing and/or slogan will go a lot further, and will appeal to the masses.

A t-shirt aimed directly at Spearboard/Tony will only appeal to the proud and pissed off....

Just my 2 cents on the matter.

Here is our first real test to see who really wants to do what's right for the spearfishing community.

I think that you guys are forgetting that there are 2 other people's names associated with the graph that have nothing to do with the decisions made on SB. These people have families, co-workers,and have not done personal attacks on any of us that I have ever heard of.

Are we going to continue to propagate this joke? It was funny, let's move on. If it becomes a t-shirt, we will never be able to move forward and rise above this mess. I fail to see how this benefits us, other than a giggle or two. I would rather donate $20 to the FRA, they need it more than the t-shirt company. I strongly suggest that the graph and t-shirt idea be forgotten. It is wrong to drag these other two people into this bs. Whether you like them or not, respect them or not, what good is possibly going to come out of this?

The founders and advisors of this site do not support the continued use of the graph on this site. I ask you to be gentlemen about it and think it over. We will look back on this and know that this was a turning point for us, which direction are we going guys?

I do agree with ScottL and hogsniper with respect to the shirts after giving it some thought. While the graph is fn hilarious (mainly because it pisses Tony off :D) there are other people involved with that graph who have only made positive contributions to our sport and to the community and to bring them into this would only create more problems.

EDIT: I have personally gone back through this thread and deleted the images of the shirts that I posted.

I say take that graphic above, cut a circle border around it, and around the "planet" in the graphic, make a small orbital bubble trail, like a ring on saturn, being made by a gag or hog or snap etc swimming away from the diver but orbiting the "planet"

I think its a very nice graphic as it is, just throwing a suggestion out there.

If one were so inclined, I think both the freediver and the scuba diver could be positioned on the left and right (respectively:D) of "Spearfishing Planet" and taking aim towards the globe or a fish circling the globe. It would be cool to show a visual of both free/scuba divers sharing the water and having the same aim (or "goal" - kinda symbolic).

Our original concept was a blue ring octpus holding crossed freedive and scuba spearguns while clutching the planet with his tentacles. I like the temp logo, but I want to develop this octopus logo for the shirts and site in some advance software that can function within the site instead of just a jpeg. Let's use this one for now and see what else we can come up with. When grauwer and I first discussed the logo, we were both thinking octopus for some reason. They are one of the most intelligent, adaptive, and graceful predators in the ocean. I kind of invisioned a military type of logo like a special forces or navy seals look.
