Before you go any further I have to say that these were all caught hook and line..........I know, I know, this is a spearo board but I thought it deemed worthy of a report.
Headed out to hit some wrecks in 200+ off Islamorada. Crossed over the edge and got to 130ft and the bottom machine turned black! Spun around and dropped 3 live grunts and all of our rods doubled over! Friggin sweet - a new wreck! Did numerous drifts over top of it and caught Muttons up to 500' away from the wreck on all sides - most of the time AJ's, yellow jacks and horse eyes beat the snappers to the bait but we managed to get 8 real nice muttons with the biggest being 15lbs. I got a decent AJ for smokin as well. Monster cudas on this thing - cranked up a few jack heads for proof, even had one damn near take the tail off of the biggest mutton! Had a 10lb AJ inhaled by a MONSTER jewfish as well, we dragged him to within 50' of the boat until he finally decided to spit it! The highlight of the day had to be the 50+ pound wahoo that cruised ever so slowly accross the transom. I tossed out 3 freebies to him but he kept on moving. Overall it was a picture perfect day on the water, crushed the fish and had one hell of a fish fry! My left arm and back are still sore!
