Supposed to increase lung capacity by 20% Noah, I used to use mine everyday. I never took the time to test my lung capacity before and after. However, I am positive that it at least increases the strength of your diagraph to intake a breath of air. If you really want to increase lung capacity, begin lung packing exercises. If you dont' know what packing is, seek professional training to avoid a lung injury. jimdoe2you 09-04-2007, 07:44 PM Yes, it works. You can even build your own. I did with an old comfo bite mouth piece and a hose protector. The most important thing is, "Do not over use it when you first start out!!!" Your diaphragm muscles are generally involuntary and very, very sensitive. You can cause yourself tremendous pain after the first day by merely using it for a few minutes too long. The next day you'll wish you had a kidney stone instead! Think of it this way, your friend doesn't lift weights and on his first day of weight training he squats ten sets of ten reps with 150 pounds. His legs will feel better the next day doing sprints than you will feel sitting in a chair taking shallow breaths. Errrrr, ..................so I've heard :o . Sean 09-04-2007, 08:50 PM Yes they Do Work, I used mine for about two months before the F%^& dog Ate it, I could tell a big difference even in that short amount of time. jstbecauz 09-04-2007, 09:11 PM Noah I just ordered one. I will let you know how good it is after a week of use when you have to come back down for a second dive to get me off the rock pile :D Gixxer 09-04-2007, 10:05 PM website? jstbecauz 09-04-2007, 10:14 PM http://www.expand-a-lung.com/ Gixxer 09-04-2007, 10:26 PM you know, I have been using the military standard issue resistance breather for 13 years!! It's called a GAS MASK!!! You try wearing one of those for 6-7 hours at a time and see if yer chest hurts at the end of the shift!! If I only started freediving after I got home from Korea. If you added up the hours I wore that thing in full gear, it would probably be almost a solid month!!! Probably didn't matter though. I smoked enough to spit charcoal briquettes on many occasions...:nono: Gamble 09-04-2007, 11:48 PM :redcard::redcard: ;) Dr Poon 09-05-2007, 12:07 AM My girlfriend has greatly increased her breathhold (and capacity) using a similar device I call the expanda-throat. Remarkably, my bottom time has gone way up too. :moon: Havent figured that one out yet. Let me know if you want to try it out.... DP fl_coastie 09-05-2007, 02:23 PM sounds like i need to get my wife one of those. TheContractor 09-14-2007, 02:23 PM how long do you use this for?
