I'll summarize. A judge says Iran has to pay 2.6 billion for the Lebanon 1983 bombing that killed 241 marines.
Now, this was during a civil war, where Israel had invaded Lebanon and was a military target. That doesn't equate to terrorism- that is war.
How about suing the congress for not allowing the guards at those barracks to even have loaded weapons- talk about sitting ducks- what purpose are unarmed soldiers?
But, I guess this'll be one of those offsetting lawsuits- the US managed to shoot down an Iranian airliner, killing 290 civilians (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran_Air_Flight_655) by a US warship operating in Iranian waters.
Lamberth said he hopes the judgment will "sound an alarm to Iran that their unlawful attacks on our citizens will not be tolerated."
I'm sorry, but no one is going to get any satisfaction from stupid lawsuits like that. The US pulled out and stationed their troops offshore, as they should have. I should know- I was sailing around in circles on the USS Nashville a couple of years later.
