What wetsuit can anyone recommend for this winter?(N. FL) I've been using a 3/2 oneal surfing wetsuit(ok for cool, not for cold)and a 7 mil scuba suit(keeps warm but too bulky). What brand is the warmest yet least bulky? I don't care about color but a slick exterior would be nice. Omer? Picasso? Does a foil interior help? Thanks for the input, Noah

I dive primarily in the Carrabelle to Destin areas. I have used and personally own suits from Picasso, Omer, and Spetton. I don't think that you can wrong with any of the three. What I would suggest is to definitely get an open cell interior with either slick (open cell exterior) or nylon outside. While the "slick" exterior suits offer better hydro-dynamics, they can be very fragile-ie very easy to tear. As far as thickness-a true freediving suit (w/ attached hood) is very warm. I use a 2-piece 3 mil in the fall and spring--only switching to a 5 mil in late December thru February. That is in the gulf with temperatures in the low 50's. Once the water gets in the mid to high 60's a 5 mil gets way too hot (for me). Definitely get a suit with water seals in the wrists and face (hood). The gold lined suits are a little easier to put on-but I still use a small amount of shampoo and water. For the money difference, I haven't noticed much of an increase in warmth from the "reflective" coating. I would also look at Apnea and Yazbeck--I have dive buddies that use these and report good things. I would let fit be the deciding factor.
