I've got a 61" semi-enclosed magnum hybrid with three bands, it handles great but on long shots it's been about 1 for 4. I've shot it enough now to get the feeling that it's whipping on me, I'm sure I could just take a band off but I don't want to loose the range. I've tried 3 diff. shafts and although the hawaiians are the best, they still are all over the place past 15'(past the end of the gun). Any suggestions?(or am I being unrealistic to be able to hit a 2 liter bottle from 20'?) I'm gonna check with Daryl but just wanted to see what you all think, thanx, Noah

Man Daryl's fast, already had an email this morning telling me to back the gun up with my free hand. Never had to do that before, does it really help that much with these guns?

Yes, backing it up with your other hand will help. If that doesn't do it--I would go with a 9/32nd shaft and 2 bands---you'll be surprised by how much power and distance that you still have. Use the band holes that are in the middle and the one furthest from the trigger.

check the end of your muzzle closest to you, I have the same gun and the crimp on my line was sometimes hitting the muzzle on the way out putting little marks in the muzzle and throwing the shaft off somtimes. It's amazing what that gun can do when it is on:smthumbup: Yes put your hand on the but of the gun as well. Noah, do you want to hit it thursday freediving? Give me a call on the cell if you want to go.

muddy waters.... that one heck of a cobia trio there!!!

Here is a cobe I got with a JBL!!!!! I have recently switched to the 9/32 shaft and 2 5/8 bands and it is a good set up, only have one trip like that so far, but i'll try out the new rigging this week again. Good to know it has good reviews set up like this. Later on... G.

Upon closer inspection, I do notice some marks on the port side of the muzzle(thanks Grant!) where it looks like the fins are rotating to the left and striking it on the way out.I know this would put some wobble into the shaft.. I wonder if this could be enough to throw the shot off by 6" at 15'?

I doubt the fins are hitting, I bet it is the crimp but i could be wrong. I took matters into my own hands and took the shooting line totally out of the equation. I have shot a bunch of fish with it this way and have not noticed any accuracy problems anymore. Heres a pic of how i rigged it:

Not bad, not bad at all, any remarks from Daryl about it?

Alright, just got done re-rigging Grant-style:smnotworthy: .. I think it might work;) Just gotta tweek the line slot and it'll be good. BTW, Grant, how do you like the smaller shaft/2 band thing? And why did you change?

Personally I would be pissed if I had to re-engineer a gun that cost that much,, but that's just me.

I like it because I can still land large fish but I do not feel like I am taking down a bazooka to kill a 2 pound mango snapper anymore... Also loading only 2 bands instead of 3 is nice... and still have plenty of range and power. If I was simply trophy hunting, I would switch back to the 5/16 shaft and 3 bands, but for what I do in the gulf... this set up seems to be working great.
