Nice... I am ashamed to admit... but until yesturday I did not realize that there were so many scamp in the gulf, for some reason I thought that they were mainly east coast and deeper water fish.... Whenever I would see them on the gulf side I would always think man.... what a pretty little black grouper.... too bad he is not a little bigger:pissed:
A guy shot one yesturday on our trip and when I got to the surface I saw that it was a scamp... not black grouper and realized how many scamps I have passed up thinking they were just a bit short for a black grouper. Silly me.

Watch out scamps from now on!!!

Lots of scamps out in the grounds right now. Some of our spots are loaded with them. they aren't too skittish either and taste great.
This next clip is just a porgy, but fish behavior never ceases to amaze me. With a camera in my hands and the gun in the boat, some fishes attitudes change so much. You have to wonder what this guy is thinking. He wants to swim away, but is almost hypnotized by the camera. Seen this in a lot of different species.

Great Vids Adam.
Last week I was on a spot off St. Pete in 80 feet that litterally had hundreds of scamp on it! I dont remember seeing as many scamp in the past as I have in the last year or so.
