Went out this morning for a couple hours from the beach. Water was beautiful, vis was about 40', decent south current. Drifted in 20-25' for 2 hours and ended up with 3 hogs and a bug. Decent catch for a short dive.

El Cid 09-27-2007, 07:45 PM Nice, wish I had 3 hogs and bug for dinner tonight. Amen to that! Tonight I'm trying a new side dish for me dry rotisserie chicken: black beans, kidney beans, corn and salsa...gourmet to the extreme! Gotta love being away from SoFla and away from my apartment too! Nice fish though, I always loved Dania on a clear day! Did you hit up the jacks? Looks like a decent snout on the largest one! FREEK 09-27-2007, 07:55 PM Not bad for a couple of hours of swimming!! Could you post a pic of the other side of you boogie board?? Did you hit up the jacks? Looks like a decent snout on the largest one! I went south of the jacks. Heres a pic of my board. Wish mine was like SpearEasy's...would make the swim out a lot easier. Talking about new blades, i don't want to derail this thread so i'll send you a PM cmfish 09-28-2007, 04:14 PM Try the Marea fiberglass blades.. I recommend stiffness #3 for long surface swims. Was thinking of giving your blades a try when my Cressi's broke last month, but I couldn't justify spending that much on fins for just shore/shallow diving. Speareasy 09-28-2007, 04:29 PM The fiberglass blades are all around blades, not just for shore diving. I mentioned #3 stiffness because for me personally the #4 is too stiff to kick around in continuously for 3-6 hours. There are those who are comfortable with it. Gamble for example is using #5 (incomprehensible to me) Apex is using #4 and he's not a huge man, so it's all personal preference. But you do have the option of choosing your stiffness. Apart from that a fiberglass blade will kick ANY plastic blade's ass. All you have to do is try it once and then you'll know. $135 is not that bad for something that will last you for 10-15 years. I don't want to keep derailing your thread. I was out too yesterday south of where you were and the sea was beautifully flat. It was a nice day for diving although the vis wasn't too good. cmfish 09-28-2007, 04:41 PM The fiberglass blades are all around blades, not just for shore diving. I already have a pair of carbon fins for when I'm not playing around so thats why I couldn't justify the cost. The vis was pretty good where I was, while the sun was out from behind the clouds at least. settingsteel 09-30-2007, 05:43 PM nice days work:smthumbup:, enjoy it 'fore them canadians start invading hollywood;) Speareasy 09-30-2007, 05:57 PM nice days work:smthumbup:, enjoy it 'fore them canadians start invading hollywood;)I thought Hollywood was part of Quebec :scratchhead: |
