What is your preference for bands, I am talking about for a Biller or Rhino, where a metal material should be used. And why? is there a difference between noise from the wishbone to the cable or is it not noticable? I know that the cable needs to be pulled back further cause of the design but other than that what is the preference?

I think the cable wishbone bands are quieter to load but they fray easier...metal wishbone noise is defnately noticeable

Cable for notches are definitely a little more quiet.

Cable is more conforming, too.

Just another option. I use the Edge wishbones from Florida Freedivers on my notched JBL shafts and have been very pleased with the results. The dyneema that comes with the inserts is very thin (1.5 mm I think) and pretty stiff. It fits easily in the shaft notches, if you are willing to spend a little time and elbow grease removing the sharp edges. I like that the dyneema doesn't kink or develop the metal slivers that cable does, and won't break suddenly like a metal wishbone. The durability has impressed me too.

There was an old post on SpearBoard that detailed the process, but in a nutshell:

1. Use a small needle file to round over the edges of the notch
2. take a length of nylone tuna line, or something similar, about 2' long that fits tightly in the notch.
3. Smear some cheap hardware store metal polish on the tuna line and run it back and forth through the notch until it is smooth and shiny.

More conforming in what regard? I have been wondering about this subject for a while.

just be sure to wear gloves when loading cable wish bones. If the band slips (easy in the water with bare hands) they'll cut the shit out of you.

I would prefer these that you are using cause I bet there is a noticable difference form the steel in either case.

I got them from Florida Freedivers at https://www.flfreedivers.com/
Just click on the "shop" link and type "edge" in the search box. That should take you to the correct page, where they are listed as "Edge Wishbone Inserts".

cable wishbones seem to last longer and dont break as suddenly as the solid metal ones. I agree too, that the cable wishbones seem a little less loud.

Do you mean the cables or the wishbones?

You cannot get poked by something you do not touch! There is no need to touch the cable wishbone when loading a cable band. Adjust your loading technique and you can avoid the discomfort!
