Measure the total band stretch (in inches) from muzzle hole to fin. Multiply by 2. Subtract length of wishbone. Divide by the amount of stretch (between 3.2 and 3.5).

If your 55" gun has 45" of stretch and you use a 4" wishbone, then you should cut your bands about 26" long (provided you want a stretch of 3.3). Also, you will loose about an inch after tying the bands.

I run with 26 inch bands. One 5/8 and one 9/16 and a 9/32 shaft. If you are using a 5/16 shaft add one more 9/32 band.
Now go shoot some fish:smthumbup:

My Mid-handle Deathstick has 2-3 22" bands. Leaves a bruise but had some sick power!! I think it's important to make sure the gun is ballasted correctly to be able to handle powering it up. Ken nailed mine on the ballast. If you power it up and the gun doesn't have the mass to keep it from kicking or raising the muzzle your just waisting your time. Power is less important than accuracy.

Jeremy,
PJ shoots a Hybrid Gun. I believe that a 55 Hybrid has longer band stretch than a 55 Death Stick. One of the most important aspects of band stretch is not to overpower which is a common mistake most spearos make. Supposedly and over stretched band has less throw than a properly stretched band, especially when it has been loaded for a while..... Where is Bill Mac???

Thanks for the input everyone

GR: I'm headed down to the keys tonight and am hopefully go out of kw tomorrow with Brad. How did your trip with Cam go? I bet the new eapon shot like a wet dream huh!

I was also hoping Bill Mac would chime in. I figured the "bat phone" would have gone off anytime anyone mentions a hybrid! (Only messing around Bill)

Your 55 mid-handle has 25" or 26" bands w/ 3" wishbones

??? No It has 2 22's and and one 24. Remember you where drinking when you tied them. I re-measured them when they where untied so I could make up a couple more.

The correct bands for a Wong 55 hybrid rear handle are 26",27", and 28"
