OEX kayak and scuba will be opening a new shop in Oceanside, CA. I believe the Grand Opening date will be October 20th. If you're military, then definitely stop by to check it out. The owner, Brent, is working on special programs to give back to the military personnel for their service and sacrifice.
Like the OEX store in Pt. Loma, the O'side store will be carrying freedive and spearfishing gear from Cressi, Omer, Neptonics as well as others.
There's a really exciting development in terms of some guns they'll be carrying, but I won't get ahead of myself and squeal because it's not a sure thing. So if only the manufacturer would get his ass in gear and start making a run of those highly anticipated guns... procrastinating bastards!
Just so everythings out in the open, I'm buddies with one of the owners of OEX. A few years ago when I went to launch at LJ I realized that I had forgotten my paddle. So rather than drive the 3 miles home to get it (I'm lazy), I walked up to the kayak rental places to see if I can rent just a paddle. All the shops I went to wanted $10 (I'm also cheap) plus drivers lic. I stopped at the OEX shop and Brent (owner) just handed it to me. We got to chatting and he seemed a pretty cool guy. That was when he only had two shops. When he decided to open his Pt. Loma shop he decided to carry freedive/spearfishing gear. OEX now has five stores so I guess Brent is doing something right.
