Spearos....don't want to be the sore thumb but want everybody to see this. The attachments are winds and swells on GD. Both winds and swells are increasing and will be changed to almost a full east wind by next Sat. That means the winds will blowing directly into Oku. If the weather forcast holds, Oku and the entire east side will be out of the question next Sat. 11-15kt winds and over 3 foot seas might rock that beach. Also with the higher winds and larger waves come, a stronger current. As you might know the current on the east ocean side seems to always be a little stronger than the west protected side. As always weather changes and who know's things might turn out to be perfect :D
I'm sure Chuck could use some help with suggestions for a west coast dive site.
Also after a quick peek of the dive site yesterday, it is WAY too small for 25 people to spear on. Oku is a really nice, secluded beach and from past experience there I know it to be good.
If we go to the west side, the area MUST be increased! Have done some estimation and here is what I think, this is a only a minimum. If we had 25 people in the water and each person covered 100 yards we would need a minimum of of a mile and a half of reef to work. Now that is very conservative. The Oku reef is definately not even close to a mile and a half. A mile would be greatly streching it. 5 hours in the water and an experienced person can double that to 200 yards. I know I don't want to be working the same water as my competitor who might be a few yards away if we keep the same small area.
Just a few of my own thoughts. I know a few of ya'll have the same reservations on the size of the area.
If you guys want to :redcard: me that's ok, I will still look forward to this weekend's event. I'm like skinny, with a raffle and a free T-shirt at least I have a chance to walk away with something. That is unless someone gets pissed with this post, rolls my ass and takes my free T-shirt :fish:
