Don't matter what you call'em...they get :fish:

Would like to establish this thread for those who have any question, comments, tips on Pneumatics

here is my "new cyranos" :awink:

Gave it a new tough, non slip paint job on the barrel (same used for truck bedliners), the shaft holder (made of a liquid steel poxytype cmpd.) holds the shaft GREAT, and can be used while hunting as a freeshaft holder (see last pic), and the custom grip made of plastic marine epoxy- gives it the finishing touch!!! :) Total amount spent $10 (minus the bedliner paint:eek:)

I have one and the only thing i dont like is loading. the shafts are too flemsy. That and they are exactly the easiest to load. But they shoot their asses off!!:BoomSmilie_anim:

I love little pnumatics <70cm for shallow water or rock hunting. thick shafts and no bands to nick while squirming around in cave. anything over 70cm I'll be reaching for a bandgun. pnumos are a pain in the ass to load :P

nice guns!

welcome tkaltenbach, if your shooting a cyranos change the shaft (the ones they come with:nono:) to a 7mm or 7.5mm stainless spring steelshaft, also when you load grab part of the muzzle and shaft together in one hand, and pull down with the other...that should help:smthumbup:

Are they as difficult as they look to load? I have one at the shop, but have hesitated using it cause of the way it appears to be loaded.

:iagree:

especially on the quick load -band guns are great too- different applications for different situations, but I think a 100cm farter suits a big area of "reef" water, I seldom have shot fish that are not cleared- don't want to make this a bandgun is better than a farter :soapbox: (enough of those throughout the web) since my son's 90 euro riffe does the same:smthumbup:

hey Teh here is the spec on the handle, if you want to color it up a bit add a few drops of acrylic paint and mix it up

What about performance mods.
I once found an italian site that had loads on mods for the guns and a step by step on how to do it. I cant find it anymore:mad:

1)They had info on how to do a more streamlined slide ring.
2)On how to enlarge the barrel holes in the front of the gun to allow water to escape quicker.
3) Modifying the valve inside the gun to increase power by drilling the hole larger (this eliminates the low power setting)
4) How to make your own pressure gauge for cheap

I found it because the sites were in someones sig line on spearboard or here.

wasnt my intention to start an argument, I own both, and both serve very specific purposes. unfortunetly the places I typically hunt are very very cold and deep. pnumatics, by design, are less able to cope there compared to a band gun. watch what happens to a farters power when you load it at home, then drop the temp 40F and put 3atm of pressure on it :S wish it wasn't so, as a short bandless gun would be PERFECT for north BC spearing...

would love to find ways to mod the guns, especially a home made pressure gauge!

I have used air guns in South FL & La oil rigs up to 200fsw. Mares Cyrano is a great freeshaft gun. I have also owned Cressi, Mares, & Seac.

Someone mentioned shafts: Only 1 place & that is Ray Odor. He has them in any funky size you want 5/16 or 9/32. Spring stainless, not that Euro shit.

Also for SCUBA lineshafting the speed load kit from Spearfishing Specialties works very well with mono or SS cable for rigs/wrecks.
