hey
im new to spearfishing and live close to wrightsville beach. ive been spearfishing twice now both times at the masonboro jetties. i was suprised at how many people ive seen there that spearfish. so far all ive seen is a few small flounder a small spadefish and a good bit of togs (none really big)> and that has been mostly at the ledge before the jettie starts. is that all i can expect this time of year or is there better places around the jettie i havent found yet? ive swam along at least the first half or more of the jettie on both sides with not much luck.
any help or pointers from the locals on here would be awsome.
oh and is this the only shore sight in the area for spearfishing??
thanks

sheepshead and flounder are pretty much the staples there. There have been cobias taken but thats pretty rare. You should go all the way out to the end, supposedly there is a 65 ft sailboat that sank after hitting the rocks, if they have not salvaged it yet. The piers would be your only other option for inshore WB.

thanks for the advice. i really hope to get some sheephead before the water gets to cold.
are the sheephead still around the jetties or have they moved to deeper water yet?

there should be sheeps there till Feb - good luck on the convicts.
