Nice fish!
I thought I saw a show one time that said that you all breed them in captivity and then restock the fry back into the system?

Thanks

I'm not sure about the restocking program here in New England but think they stock some southern lakes with striped bass. I heard that a while back a stocking program was started in California and now there is a wild bass fishery in the San Fransisco area.

Beautiful bass you got there. The striped bass here in the Northeast are wild bass. I have read that the bass in Calif were introduced but the ones we have here in the Atlantic are native fish.

That sounds right. From what I hear, striped bass were introduced into some freshwater lakes and have grown very large, 50lbs +.

Going to Plymouth way tomorrow for 2 quick dives, shoot some snackies for the grill and maybe a bug or 2 for the pot. Report to follow when we're done. The lobster tournament is going on as I type this, I'm stuck at the firehouse....go figure hmm>>

Suds, my largest freshwater Striper is 55 pounds, but I've seen some much larger in Beaver Lake and hope to stick one.

Very nice fish, BTW!

I know NY, RI and NH allow it....and maybe NJ.

CT, MA and ME do not allow it.

I wonder if Stripers are legal to shoot in Florida. I didn't find them in the regs.

My mechanic's got a couple 50# plus on his wall that he caught at the mouth of Salt Run in Saint Augustine. Say's he just anchors in the channel on an outgoing tide and let's the current work a bomber on the bottom. I sure as hell don't want to try spearing at the mouth of a east coast inlet on an out tide though, well maybe if it was clear, but I've never seen it.
