When you dive there are you sightseeing, or killing? Chum Bucket 11-11-2007, 04:27 PM Just sightseeing on that dive, and looking for stone crabs. I have never speared there, although I know people do. You could probably do o.k. there on sheepsheads and smaller mangs. charlie is sleeping 11-12-2007, 11:04 AM I'm being lazy here because I could probably search through a bunch of threads and find my answer, but anyway... I was wondering what kind of video set up you are using. I LOVE viewing the videos. My girlfriend loves to dive, but just isn't very interested in hunting fish. She has done a little underwater point and shoot photography using her camera in a housing. She digs that. I'm sure it ain't cheap, but I'm thinking of getting her some video gear. That way we can both dive. She can shoot video and I can shoot fish. Thanks again for the info. (And keep the videos coming. They're awesome. Hopefully I can contribute some soon.) I'll do my best, but honestly my video equipment is about 5 years old and therefore by todays electronics standards already "outdated", and I'm definitely not an expert. There are people here that know a Lot more about video gear than me. Fishkilla, aka Ben, is a video Ninja and could probably answer this better. Another great source of knowledge would be Mike down at Ocean Images in Cape Coral, www.oceanimagesinc.com . They can really get you into an affordable housing and recomend a good camera also. Last time I talked to Mike he was telling me about a Sony HC camera coupled with their HC housing. I have a Hitachi DVD cam with the dolphin pro housing. One nice thing, when I buy a new camera, Ocean Images can retro-fit my housing to accept a huge variety of new cameras. That's important to me. You don't want to buy a new housing every time you upgrade or change cameras!! mrsrogers 11-12-2007, 07:50 PM :corkysm60: Cool pics! I tried taking pictures before & mine never looked like that. ReefGuy 11-13-2007, 12:49 PM Adam, have you checked out "The Wetter the Better" in Punta Gorda? They just opened last month, and the owner is big into underwater video. He had some nifty looking video cameras, but I don't know anything about them. Another great source of knowledge would be Mike down at Ocean Images in Cape Coral, www.oceanimagesinc.com . He had some nifty looking video cameras, but I don't know anything about them. I haven't been in there yet. I plan on checking them out soon though. Sounds intersting. I would love to upgrade to a higher quality camera, but extra funds are a little short right now. Most dive shops want to sell you a package deal, where the housing is dedicated to only one model of camera, and if the camera breaks and is no longer made, you are stuck with a useless housing. I know a guy with several expensive U/W housings that are worthless because they can't be re-fitted to a new camera. Heard you guys dived some dry suits in the springs last week:circle: threw-er-back 11-14-2007, 07:19 AM Whats the depth there? Chum Bucket 11-14-2007, 07:59 AM Whats the depth there? 10-15 feet at the row of pilings closest to the shore, 45 fsw out at the end of the pier by the large boat bumper ReefGuy 11-14-2007, 08:52 AM I haven't been in there yet. Most of the team went dry last week (it was, after all, a DUI seminar), but I broke my thumb two weeks ago, and couldn't get the wrist seal over it, so I went wet. charlie is sleeping 11-14-2007, 10:38 AM Thanks for the help! |
