It seems like there might be some light in this mess. Dr. Mathews has convinced at least two of the board members to hear him out. He also went to grad school with one of the city commissioners, so we should have at least ONE on our side!
They are working with some crappy numbers. Costs to keep the program going have been poorly estimated. We're trying to set things right so at least the decision makers can have the proper information before they make the call.
It also looks as if there will be a public input hearing in September. I am putting this out there now that ALL of you who are not out of town or in the grounds at that time need to get your asses to that meeting. We need a strong presence. Freedivers, SCUBA shooters, hook and liners alike all use those reefs. We all benefit. We all need to be at that meeting.
Just like the others, you don't have to speak, that'll be taken care of for you. Just get your ass to the meeting! I'll let ya know when and where!
