The tag system may be a way to keep some people from poaching.

Not sure how Monroe County would be able to enforce the proposed tag system though. A LEO would have to physically stop every vessel and check their catch to remove the paper tags equaling the catch.

I strongly suggest those who participate in lobster harvesting make your feelings known at these meetings. If you do not, you may not like the outcome.

ISSUES REGARDING THE RECREATIONAL FISHERY

Abolish the two-day sport divers season.:confused:
Limit the issuance of recreational crawfish endorsements.:eek:

Implement an annual bag limit with tags. (Still maintains the 6 per day limit)

Bag limit applies to harvesters only.
Conduct straw the poll on the two-day season after 3 years, and once the lobster tag program
is in effect.
FWC recommends in a Memo, that Monroe Co conduct a straw poll regarding whether to
abolish the 2 day season in Monroe County, language to be developed by staff and Board, results forward to Commission for their consideration.:confused:
Reinstate the 24-vessel limit.
Require a lobster tag for each day of the recreational season.:confused:
Change the recreational harvesting season.:confused:
Establish a recreational limited entry program.:eek:
Change the bag limit.
Establish the same regulations for all recreational fishers.
Different management for two-day season.

Just a reminder that the Dania meeting is tonight.

If you guys dont make your feelings known at these meetings you will have no one to blame when things change that you dont like.
All it sometimes takes is a couple people saying the same thing for them to change things one way or the other.
I can guarantee you there will people from industry there.
They will say how they think it should be and if no one is there to counter them, then they will assume nobody cares.
