I have an old Hi-8 Sony video camera and I was thinking about trying to build a housing for it. Have any of you ever tried to do this or have any ideas. This is the best site I've found so far. http://www.instructables.com/id/Unde...ng-for-miniDV/ It looks pretty nice, but I would like to have some way to turn the camera on and off from outside the housing. I thought I could put the remote in a small housing and use it through the front window, but I guess the camera will eventually go to sleep and can't be turned back on with the remote. I have an idea for a push-rod mechanism that would use a small piece of speargun rubber and a stainless rod, but I wanted to see if anyone else had any other ideas.

Somebody was looking for a Hi-8 a while back. They had a housing but the camera was shot. I'll have to go back and find the thread. You might get a deal on a housing.
