NSEARCH 12-19-2007, 06:00 PM There seems to be conflicting information from Federal rules and State rules regarding the seasonal grouper closure. From what I've learned the State's rule is Feb. 15 THROUGH March 15th, supporting an opening on 12:01 AM March 16th. Apparently Federal rules are stating Feb. 15th UNTIL March 15th, indicating an opening at 12:01 AM on March 15th. We are attempting to confirm the Federal rules and also receive written confirmation on the 12:01 AM March 15th opening. If Feds say we can shoot em on the 15th then by all means we will. If not then the tournament will be pushed back one weekend to March 22nd.
If you have questions regarding the seasonal grouper closure please post them in the Regulations section. Please keep this thread on topic regarding the tournament.
Thanks :toast:

Teh Wicked 01-02-2008, 02:53 AM hrmmmm, could this be my first tournament???
deepdestroyer 01-02-2008, 03:27 AM Whats the entrance fee...do you have to spear in the GOM?
NSEARCH 01-02-2008, 09:41 AM Whats the entrance fee...do you have to spear in the GOM?
Last year the early registration fee was $50 for adults and it was not limited to only the GOM. There was also a mandatory capt's meeting the night before the tournament.
Teh Wicked.....this is a great tournament to cut your teeth on so to speak. You already know a bunch of the participants from last year so you wouldn't have any problems hooking up a ride.
Bottom Waits 01-02-2008, 05:47 PM Looking forward to the tournament. Had a great time last year. See ya there.
Teh Wicked 01-02-2008, 06:07 PM Guess I need to get my Nitrox knocked out so i can jump in the deep stuff for the tournament huh?
So is it the same rules at the ST Pete open basically? just as long as your back and in line to get weighed thats all that matters?
NSEARCH 01-02-2008, 07:14 PM Pretty much the same rules wise....pales in comparison to The Open though. You got it though, gotta make that weigh-in!! If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask
Teh Wicked 01-05-2008, 06:25 PM Guess I need to find a good boat to jump on...
NSEARCH 01-10-2008, 05:03 PM Following up from last night's FSDA meeting:
The TBSC Winter Invitational will be held on Saturday, March 22, 2008. Subsequently the rain date will be Saturday, March 29, 2008.
Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual TBSC Winter Invitational!!
kitefisherman 01-10-2008, 05:36 PM Thanks Bryan - those dates I can do.
Not that it matters to me, but you guys do realize that March 23rd is Easter?
NSEARCH 01-10-2008, 05:41 PM Yeah, it was taken into account. I'll be sure to leave you some golden eggs on a couple of the inshore wrecks John :D
Teh Wicked 01-14-2008, 08:56 PM 2 months and a week away, I need to get on the ball and get some stuff knocked out!
Need at least 1 130ft LP steel tank, nitrox card and my AOW. then the most inportant thing of all is a ride!!!
trigger 01-15-2008, 09:28 PM Teh Wicked.....this is a great tournament to cut your teeth on so to speak.
I second that. It was my first tournament and walked away with a pair new long fins from the raffle.
luckydog752 01-17-2008, 03:31 PM where so you get the rules & all the info for this tournament? Are they posted here on the forum? Dan
NSEARCH 01-17-2008, 03:46 PM Dan, the 08 rules and registration form are still being tweaked. Once they are completed they will be posted on the Tampa Bay Spearfishing Club's website (http://www.tampabayspearfishingclub.org/). Once there on the left side you can click on the TBSC Winter Invitational button and it will take you to the tournament section where you'll be able to download the rules and registration form. The 2007 information is still up so you could take a look at that to get an idea on how the tournament is run. The 08 rules and registration form won't be very different from the 07's.
Teh Wicked 01-18-2008, 09:01 PM OH MAN! Im getting excited already, lining up getting my new gun and my nitrox will be here before long.
time to find a tank in my price range...
Teh Wicked 01-27-2008, 07:07 PM Ok boys, game on! I got a new LP 121 tank coming this week and I will be picking up my new weapon on Thursday if all goes as planned...
Next order of business, I NEED A RIDE!!!
NSEARCH 02-03-2008, 04:15 PM The rules and registration forms are up on the TBSC's website. (Thanks Chris! http://www.spearfishingplanet.com/images/icons/icon14.gif)

hogfishkilla 02-07-2008, 09:13 PM I'll definatley be there trying hold to my snapper title. Not that it was a huge snapper or anything. But if everyone could be so nice as to not shoot any big snapper it would be greatly appreciated.

M Diesel 03-11-2008, 03:59 PM Someone help.....
I can't get on the website from work to see the flyer.
What time is the weigh in?
Does anyone know about what time everything will wind down? I'm trying to figure out if I need my boat trailer down at Ft. Desoto or if I plan on just driving the boat back to Clearwater that night.
NSEARCH 03-11-2008, 04:06 PM The weigh-in line is closed at 6 pm. Last year we were wrapping things up close to 7:30. Unless you're comfortable with running at night I'd suggest trailoring it down.
M Diesel 03-11-2008, 04:10 PM I don't mind running at night. With daylight savings it won't be too bad anyway. I can run up to john's pass on the coast and then swing in and enjoy a few drinks down the intercoastal back to Clearwater. I'm sure it will be light enough to get me around the crab traps to john's pass. By the time it gets dark I'll be in the intercoastal.
I guess I'd be an ass if I left my boat tied up at the ramp blocking a lane for a while huh? (even though there are so many there) Probably best to anchor it and walk up the beach after I am done unloading at the ramp.
