View Full Version : AHRRSAP Meeting. What Should Rok Do?
Louis Rossignol 01-09-2008, 03:05 PM Somebod please shoot me, We've been in this meeting and for the first hour we had to hear from NMFS's lawyer on why we can't speak to each other alone. We would be avoiding pblic input.
No wonder why NMFS's can't get nothin done!:slap:
Dive4Blood 01-09-2008, 03:16 PM Louis,
I want you to do the following (in order):
A) At the opportune time when the room is generally quiet perhaps during a Powerpoint presentation I want you to yell out the following words at the top of your lungs: F*ck this place! It's bullshit! I'm out of here!!!!
B) Grab as many papers, coffee cups, water glasses, and pens as you can in both hands and fling them violently in all directions. As the room sits in shock let out a bloodcurdling scream.
C) Point at the NMFS lawyer and tell Jim Zurbrick that he is an illegal alien. Watch as Jimmy Z puts him in an armbar while sucker punching him repeatedly in the head.
D) Quietly walk out of the room, go downstairs to the bar, and start ordering mass quantities of Jaegermeister shots.
Thanks for representing us, and remember no f-ing way on recreational IFQ's!
:D;):D
Louis Rossignol 01-09-2008, 03:33 PM You have definately made this meeting more entertaining, if fact everyone is wondering why I'm laughing at the computer screen.
Right now they are doing the IFQ presentation and the CCA's big toe is talking about Tarpon tags if you want to kill Tarpon.
See, it's just not us Louisiana folks that kill Tarpon.
NSEARCH 01-09-2008, 03:34 PM Thanks for being there Rok!! Be sure to give Denny a kick in the shin for me :D
:2gunsfiring_v1:IFQs
Denny 01-09-2008, 03:42 PM This stuff is insane.
The main reson that the enviros use for IFQ's is that it helps with data collection. Not once do they aaddress the DAMAGE TO THE ECONMIC DRIVER OF THE RECREATIONAL SECTOR:
OPPORTUNITY
Louis Rossignol 01-09-2008, 03:51 PM Most of the committee is busting their asses about te IFQ's:toast:
Denny 01-09-2008, 03:51 PM Tonight, we eat refried beans and burrittos.
Tomorrow, we gas the room.
Relapse 01-09-2008, 03:53 PM Give em he!! boys!

Dive4Blood 01-09-2008, 04:14 PM What people don't seem to realize is that if recreational IFQ's move forward with red snapper it will be the bellwether for every other reef fish fishery to be managed in the same fashion. Ultimately our public marine resources will be served up to the highest bidder. Who do you think that could be? Could it be the extreme environmental groups whose deep pockets get filled by Mary Jane Bumblef*ck in Saginaw, Michigan who sends in her annual $50 membership because she read in the paper that fish will become extinct by the year 2050, and she wants to do her part to "save" the ocean? If I wanted to eliminate recreational fishing I would buy up as many recreational IFQ shares as possible and shelf them long enough so that they are phased out (carefully worded in the regulations mark my words) due to dormancy. Don't think for a second that this is not the end game here.
With the recs out of the picture, commercial fishery rationalization (IFQ's) will eliminate the small to medium size players consolidating the vast share of the total allowable catch to a few large highliners. The fewer the operators, the easier they are to monitor and control. Welcome to the Wal Martization of the Gulf of Mexico!!!
JLittle44 01-09-2008, 04:24 PM Dito everything he said. And don't give them an inch on anything regarding an economic model for fishery management. It's been on the tail end of a lot of discussions, meetings and article quotes lately as the future of fisheries management. Makes the hair on my neck stand up.
Thanks for representing us at the meeting guys. Rok, hold off on the tantrum 'till tommorow after the burritos. Then while you're hollerin and throwin papers around, Denny can ignite farts from the other side of the room resulting in total pandemonium.

As of right now we've table IFQ's but now Andy from NMFS is giving us another presentation and he's bringing the shit up again and telling us to have an open mind. We are supposed to break into groups and discuss the IFQ's (I don't know why), but I'm gonna read them your post if this shit comes up one more time. Keep the info coming!!!
Louis Rossignol 01-09-2008, 04:32 PM Andy is getting his ass handed to him over te fucked up data he is showing us.
Spawning potential is higher in the 80's because they didn't have as many snappers as they do now, so spawning potental is lower because more fish are being caught.:banghead:
Dive4Blood 01-09-2008, 04:39 PM Hold back on the Mary Jane Bumblef*ck reference, but feel free to paraphrase my post ;). Tell Jimmy Z to stop taking handjob offers in exchange for his thumbs up on IFQ's from the tofu gobbling eco chicks whose nether regions have probably never seen a Bic Epilady :D.

I was gonna clean it up a bit, I'm already know as te guy that cursed Steve Atran out on the internet in front of everybody.
Denny 01-09-2008, 05:18 PM Rok- you are such a pain in their ass. Good job!
Steve Atran is the dude who I suggested needed to be fired some time back.
Seems I am not the only one who has felt that way.
Continue to cus, Rok. It is the voice of the real fishing population.
Bring it on.
