Hi there...from South Africa, new to the forum...flying to Trinidad where I bought a catamaran...will probably spend most of May/June 2008 in Trinidad area...can't fly with all my gear (got my wife and 2 kiddies already!). Anyone know of a good spearo shop on Trinidad? Anybody on this forum in Trinidad and wants to hook up for a spear?

Don't come here with the intention of buying your gear here. You'll not get everything you would like. The guns we use here are mostly Riffe and even so, the stock at the dealer's shops is fairly thin.

The water in Trinidad isn't like the water you see on postcards of the Caribbean. We don't have blue water as we're located fairly close to the mouth of the Orinoco River. Our water is green and viz varies from six inches during the peak wet season (July to Nov) to thirty feet during the peak dry season (April-May). Tobago on the other hand is alot better. A hundred feet of viz can be had at times.

Hit me a message when you're getting here. Sure I can rustle up some loner equipment and a gun for you so we can have a hunt. Don't worry about fin size either. Alot of guys here hunt with open heel scuba fins, which we got alot of. ;)
