View Full Version : Ford Diesel Warranty 7yr/200k $1,499

Ford just came out with a new Diesel Warranty for their 7.3/6.0/6.4 Powerstroke Engines. The details are as follows.

You Must be within the 100k warranty period. Warranty covers 13 components:

Block
Heads
Oil Pump
Timing Chain
Timing Chain Cover
Fuel Injectors
Turbo
Head Gasket
Crankcase Oil Cooler
EGR Cooler
Fuel Injection Pump
Fuel Injection Pressure Regulator

Price Is $1,499 and will give you 7 years from the date of original purchase or 200,000 miles on the odometer.

If you have less than 36k miles and 36 months old. You can upgrade to a 21 component coverage that includes these additional components:

All internally lubricated parts
Thermostat housing
Flywheel
Manifold bolts
Seals & Gaskets
Thermostat
Water Pump
Manifold
Oil Pan
Valve Covers

The total price for the upgraded coverage is $1,999.

Deductibles are ZERO.

I'm in the market for a diesel excursion, but don't know if I can find one under 36k miles...

I don't have one right now, we normally always stock one. Even if it has less than a 100k you can get the warranty, just not the 21 component one.

Why would you need a 200,000 mile warranty on a diesel engine? :confused:

My truck is 8 years old and has 178,000 miles on it and it is just a gas engine and I don't even take very good care of it, I changed 7 of the 8 plugs at 170,000 miles and the air filter and to be honest I think the 3+ year old air filter is what made the truck run like crap.

I put an alternator and maybe a starter on it, flushed the transmission out once and changed the brake pads a few times and put tires on it, once in awhile I will add oil and change it sometimes as well.

I did have to put new mirrors on it, but you can't blame the truck for that.

Some people wouldn't, however this is the only warranty made that goes to 200k. Some people, myself included, would rather spend the money for peace of mind. Almost any repair would cover the cost of the warranty. I just posted here because I felt it was a great value. I know if I could get an extended warranty on my boat diesels I would jump all over it.



Why would you need a 200,000 mile warranty on a diesel engine? :confused:

I agree, which is why I'm interested. My GM diesel lost a fuel pump at 116k miles. Fortunately, they had extended the warranty on that to 120k, otherwise, it would have been a $2k part.

(still looking for an excursion diesel)

I guess I may have been lucky with my truck's, I buy Ford's because they always have done well even though I don't take real good care of them.

I am sure the Chevrolet's are good to, I just prefer Ford's.

Extended warranties on a boat are a completely different story, especially in regards to outboards, they are a grenade just waiting to blow up.
