if you didn't see my letter in the gulfcoast section here it is. write something similar and send it. when letters from different people about the same thing start showing up they start paying attention quick.

make it short, quick, to the point. include your name and address. if you don't send one i'll assume you want me to have to get rid of my boat and move to costa rica. i might start withholding spearfishing videos during these winter months if i don't get some active response to this thread!

Dear President Bush,

I write to you with great concern about a proposal for the Federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The “Islands in the Stream” idea will be devastating to our Floridian economy and will take our right to fish and dive away from us. You are trading our rights to try to buy the eco / enviro extremists vote. I understand that keeping up the fight against terrorism requires our party to stay in power but at what expense? I am losing faith in the Republican Party and I have no faith at all in the Democrats. If you allow this “Islands in the Stream” proposal to be your legacy you will completely lose all the respect that you have earned from me through these difficult years.

Please say NO to “Islands in the Stream!”

Thank you for your valuable time,

Thanks for your example. I did use some of it but hope you don't mind.

I write to you with great concern about a proposal for the Federal waters of the Gulf of Mexico. The “Islands in the Stream” idea will be devastating to our Floridian economy and will take our rights to fish and dive away from us. I applaud past presidents efforts to protect the fishery but there is a point when turning every federal body of water into a scientist personnel petting zoo is going too far. The Gulf of Mexico is a valuable resource to the economy of Florida and tourist who travel here. The past has shown that once the rights of its citizen are taken away it makes it almost impossible to give them back. It is the responsibility of our elected government to protect the rights and freedoms of its citizens and not oppress them.

It is your belief and that of mine the God intend us to enjoy the things he created but as his creation we often don’t respect what he has given us. It is the responsibility to protect and cherish his creation but not prevent people from enjoying it . If you allow this “Islands in the Stream” proposal to be your legacy you will completely lose all the respect that you have earned from the people you have lead through these difficult years.

Please say NO to “Islands in the Stream!”

Sincerely,

John Brady

Im going to write the WH and sec of Commerce and Interior regularly about this. Just so they know that not everyone agrees with what the eco-lobbyists are pumping them full of in Washington.
