The Freedom Divers took 4 spots at this years North Island Champs. :chuck:

The tournament was held at Kapiti Island, north of Wellington. We had reletively good conditions for the most part, except the 30 knot gusts and breaking swell on the north side. Actually, the sheltered parts of the island were pretty nice to dive. We had a boatman so that made it fun to do drift dives in the fairly strong currents that are common at Kapiti. A solid 30+ foot vis in most places made it nice to dive and there were plenty of fish.

All in all our club took 7th, 9th, 13th, and 16th places in a very tight competition. Most teams were one to two fish apart. My teammate and I took the 9th spot - this was the first NZ tourney for us, so we were pretty stoked. I won an OMER dive float and my teammate drew a lottery prize for a new pair of Effesub Whalebone fins.

We didn't get too many pictures, but if can get ahold of some, I'll post them. Nothing spectacular was shot, but we had a great time.
