View Full Version : Plantation hunt/vacation
BossHog 03-03-2008, 08:52 PM I would like to offer a vacation / getaway for up to 4 individuals (two couples/ or a familiy are welcome ) to my familys south Georgia Timber Plantation. Our plantation is located near Brunswick Ga. and is about 15 minutes from I-95.
The trip would preferably durring the last two weekends in April,( Fri. Sat. and Sun.) if you wanted to hunt turkey and hogs, or we could set a date for the summer just for hogs.
Included in the trip is guided hunting on 2019 private acres for turkey and wild hogs, fishing on a 5 acre bass pond, and atv trail rides. I have an excellent cabin, complete with phone, pool table, wine cooler, and satalite tv. ( not your average hunting lodge)
Our plantation has been in our family since 1760, and has had very little hunting pressure over the last decade. We have an exellent wild turkey population, and you are sure to have a chance at a wild hog.
We have over 25 treestands, 6 condo stands, 10 box blinds, 40 acres of food plots, and about 500 acres of swamp to hunt. ( hunters are responsible for Georgia hunting license for 3 days)
If you're not interested in the hunting, there is lots more to enjoy. Our Plantation is great if you want to get away and go some where quiet and relax. (cell phones do work here, but I usually turn mine off) The Golden Isles are 30 minutes away and offer great golfing, and the Okefenokee State park is only minutes away and offers some cool things as well.
This is a first class place, and I know you'll have a great time.
I will be glad to answer any additional questions, just PM me.
Make checks out to the FRA.
Bid's are open, and will close March 14th, 9:00 P.M.

Very Nice.
I've done a couple of FRA hunt auctions on this site and they have always worked out really well. I hope yours does too.

kitefisherman 03-04-2008, 06:07 PM I would like to offer a vacation / getaway for up to 4 individuals (two couples/ or a familiy are welcome ) to my familys south Georgia Timber Plantation.
John: That is VERY generous of you! Thank you for supporting the FRA!
Two questions: Does that mean that 4 hunters can come? If we hunt hogs, can we each shoot one each of the three days?
Keith8h 03-04-2008, 08:14 PM John,
If Kite or Fin Advis wins this be very careful when you tell them how many hogs they can shoot. You may end up with a shortage when they leave. :D
They've come to my place a couple of times and have tried to live up to the hog management policy recommended by a Florida state biologist. "If you see nine, shoot eleven."
A quote from one of the best movies of all time Raising Arizona "They are especially hard on the little things."
Seriously though, if they do win it, you all will have a ball.
BossHog 03-04-2008, 09:11 PM Yes , I will accomidate 4 hunters, and will allow a total of 2 hogs/person...
If you shoot two the first morning, or spread them out, thats up to you.
It is also up to you as a shooter!!! I'm not starting anything, but i have seen some proud guys eat their words. HA HA HA!!
BossHog 03-04-2008, 09:15 PM Bids are open...... Good luck
Here ia a porker from last year.
Grauwer 03-04-2008, 09:35 PM $450
Speardivertampa 03-04-2008, 09:40 PM $600
Grauwer 03-04-2008, 09:41 PM $625,
I want to shoot a hawg dammit
BossHog 03-04-2008, 10:38 PM This is a picture of the entire 2019 acres.
At $625.00.....that's less then $160.00 per person.....
Keith8h 03-04-2008, 11:28 PM Just so that you all realize what a deal this is, a typical 3 day turkey hunt in Georgia goes for around $1200 to $1800 PER GUN. I doubt that even includes the hog hunting.
From my experience John, you'll get a flurry of activity over the next day or two and another burst right around the deadline.
Financial Advis 03-05-2008, 06:22 AM I am NOT bidding on this.
I mean it.
maybe
gogators27 03-05-2008, 12:33 PM Does anybody know what it takes to get an out of state hunting license in Georgia? Is there a hunters safety course or somthing or do you just walk into walmart and buy one? Cost?
Does anybody know what it takes to get an out of state hunting license in Georgia? Is there a hunters safety course or somthing or do you just walk into walmart and buy one? Cost?
the nonresident licenses for deer and turkey were pretty pricey, hogs, i think you don't need a license though.
Keith8h 03-05-2008, 01:08 PM Nonresident 3 day big game (deer, turkey, bear) is only $50 according to this website:
http://www.georgiawildlife.com/content/displaycontent.asp?txtDocument=31
I didn't dig deep enough to see if hunter ed is required or not, or to see if hogs need a license.
PRIVATE LANDS: No closed season; no limit. No hunting over bait, from a vehicle, or at night with a light over 6 volts. A resident Hunting License is required to hunt feral hogs for all resident hunters 16 years old or older, except when hunting on land owned by them or their immediate family (blood or dependent relationship) residing in the same household. Non-residents must meet non-resident license requirements.
snooker 03-05-2008, 02:07 PM A hunter safety class is required in order to get any type of hunting license in the Southeast. I know that the hunter safety course in GA is good for FL and vice versa.
Hope this helps.
I'm guessing that hunting with dogs is out of the question, even if we were to provide the dogs?
BossHog 03-05-2008, 04:14 PM You would need a $30 hunting license to hunt hogs, and an additional $50 big game license to hunt turkey, for three days.
BossHog 03-05-2008, 04:49 PM Hunters under the age of twelve years old are not required to have a hunting license, of hunter saftey class.
Hunters born before Jan.1 1961 are not required to have hunter saftey, and will be able to get a hunting license. So if you are older then 47, you don't need the hunters saftey.
On the dog hunting, It may sound funny, but there isn't enough land to support running dogs. We, along with several boardering land owners are under a strict game management plan, and dogs aren't looked upon to lightly.
I would hate if something were to happen to someones dogs when they accidently cross a property line.( they might not return)
