Here's my consolation prize for not being able to dive. Actually, it was a lot of fun. Kahawai are tough fighters and go balistic, jumping like crazy.

kinda - greywacke (rock type) pebbles, about 1/4" up to 1" diameter.

Nope, I'm heading south in a month, but only to Nelson and Blenheim. I'll have to make it down to Gaymouth, uh, I mean Greymouth one of these days. :D

the wild coast is pretty nice. pancake rocks etc. the surf was un real when i was there. have you got your fix of meat pies yet.

I'll try and get some surf pics the next time a big swell rolls in.

Some of the meat pies are excellent, but you know they'll kill ya if you keep stuffing them for lunch. I've moved on to a mixed diet of Turkish kebabs and sushi with the occasional pie.
