I am new here and have a dive vacation scheduled for May in Tobago. Is there a website where I can find rules and regulations for spearfishing there?
Been all over the web looking? are there any regs? I an renting a small place in charlotteville right on the beach and was hoping to pick up some fish while snorkling right out front and then cooking them right up.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks - Bob Urban

Trinidad and Tobago is pretty relaxed when it comes to spearfishing. You'd be staying in one of the best areas for hunting.....Charlotville. Being a local, but in no way a tree hugger, all that I ask is that you respect the island and hunt in moderation. Even some of our locals here rape the place bare of anything that moves. and then there are others that justify their disregard for the environment by saying "Well, others are doing it".
Most dive shops there do not allow hunting with them but there are a few shops, especially those run by the locals that do. The guy I hunt with lives in harmony with the water, hunting only to put food on the table, not as a sport, but a way of life.
Hit me a pm if you need more info.
To directly answer your question though- Yes, you can hunt just off the beach off Charlotville. Stick to the left (looking out to sea) wall of the bay though. There you can get some small one pounder snappers, delicious cooked fresh.

are there any good spots for camping or similar style living on the island?
