The Holiday Inn Sunspree in now taking reservations for the 2008 St. Pete Open. If you call before June 30th you will be able to get the early discount on the room rates. Let them know when you call that you want the SPO early bird special room rate. Also every room rate has went up $10 from previous years rates.

We also have been working with them on some things to make sure the St.Pete Open is better then ever. They will have more bartenders on staff for the tournament to ensure people get their drinks faster and they will be having drink specials on premade drinks to. There will also be the beer cart like last year under the nepa hut and Hungry Howies will have fresh hot pizza's ready to go there for sale under the nepa hut also.

One big thing that is going to be a really big plus is the dinner. To try get get people in and out faster they are going to have a buffet style dinner for everyone and a very limited menu along with a kids menu on saturday night.

Myself, Howie and Matt and the rest of the SPUC'S are working hard to make sure this years St. Pete Open will be one to never forget.

Yes...all three room rates went up $10 from previous years.

Unless they offer glass for projectile vomiting (separate distance and accuracy categories) or tequila consumption I am most likely going home empty handed...I'm looking at the bright side though. This will be my first chance to truly make an ass out of myself in front of my new bride. :FIREdevil: She should be pretty fired up as it is...she will have realized only a few weeks prior that our wedding occurred on a surfing/spearing trip...right now it is billed as an exotic destination wedding to a sleepy little mexican fishing village, 8 days until the truth is revealed....hahaha

I got their message and everything is squared away. They called and left me a voicemail that they fixed my rate to $89.99.

The boat slip fee wasn't bad at all either. $1.50 a foot per night!!!!

I'm still married...sooo I'm guessing that means she is just waiting to get past the anullment period so tha tshe can take half of my sh!t. Nahhhh...

It was great, we dove nearly every day of the honeymoon. I got out after the tuna one day, but they didn't cooperate all that well. Got a couple by sight casting poppers on the way back in, but couldn't get em in front of us while in the water. They were hanging a 200' and occasionally pushing the bonita to the surface, but the y weren't hangin on the high spots.

Foot is feeling a little better, and I should be fine. Might try to get out this weekend and work on my Sheepshead wrangling...Zacker is going DOWN!:smthumbup: On second thought, I just hope to shoot a fish and not embarass myself...I'll save that until after the weigh in.

Last year the restaurant was so slammed that once seated we had to wait an hour for our food, and actually had one of the busboys as our waiter. The buffet will facilitate us to getting to the real business at hand.....DOING FUNNELS.

I remember I was piiiisssssed off at those f*cking waiters that night!! You couldn't order air and get it.

Has anyone else got their dock assignments yet? They were suppose to call this week but I have not heard from them. I called and left a message, jut curious if anyone else had gotten a slip and had heard from them.

I believe our SPO crew worked with the resort on problem points from last year and got that resolved. Its my understanding that they will have a giant buffet this time around to facilitate the ravenous hordes of glassy eyed spearfisherman that will be stumbling into the restaurant with the late night munchies.

In addition... I think one of our major sponsors (Hungry Howies) will be providing a truckload of pizzas.

And... Its my understanding that the Florida Freeshafters dive club generously stepped up to buy at least one keg of beer that will be given to thirsty contestants.:smthumbup:

There will also be several new additions to this years tournament that should keep everybody thouroughly entertained.;)

Exactly right, the restaurant has set up a buffet for us, will have Bahama Mama drink specials, beer on tap upstairs and down, Hungry Howies will be there at $2 a slice.
