Went out with Swampdogg on the yet-to-be-named boat.

Seas were a little rough in the morning, but by midday, it had settled down a lot. Hit the Big Ten Rock and the fish was a little scarce, but not scared of divers this early in the season. Got two gags about 32" (no scale), then headed back inshore to the Senateur Duhamel. Pick up a fat sheepie (the one good thing about NMB was that I gained an appreciation of sheepshead) to finish the day.

Seas were 2-3, vis at Big 10 was 60 feet- amazing. Water was 67 on top, 62 on the bottom. The Duhamel was a mess, 60 degrees at vis about 8 feet.

A great day on a great new boat!

Went back out again on Sunday, and somehow, despite being NC, found even more fish! Most fish I've taken home in a while. Pics to come, had to fly out on business this week.

It is decided, the boat yet to be de-named and re-named will become Tortuga after the official ceremonies are complete.

Tortuga is the name of the boat owned by Thomas Hudson, the main character in "Islands in the Stream", Hemingway's last novel. It is also an Island (not to be confused with the Dry Tortugas) off the coast of Hispaniola and was a Bucanneer's liar during the 1600's where Capt. Henry Morgan got his start. Things were so unruly at one point the french governor imported 650 prostitutes to try to "normalize" the scoundrels.

You can only imagine how much fun diving from Tortuga is going to be.

A couple of pictures of last weekend. Swampdogg is like 6'5, to put that fish in perspective.

Tall bastard if I do say so myself. Had to look up at him when we met, don't usually have to very often. Have a buddy in New Bern that spears and dive nitrox if you need anyone else for fuel costs. Have you posted any pics of the boat yet?
