I was thinking of getting my first pair of freediving fins. I will use them for scuba too sometimes. So what do people think of the Sporasub Instinct Poly-Tech Fins?

I have a pair of Spora Instincts that have been relegated to third or fourth string because I'm not that fond of them. I always felt that the blades were too soft and didn't feel especially powerful. If I'm going to choose a plastic fin, I'd grab a pair of Cressi 2000s any day. If you're looking at fiber plastic . . . well, that's a different thing altogether.

That's just my opinion. I'm sure that others will chime in.

Good luck,

Andrew

I have a pair. I don't have much time on them yet, but here are my initial findings....

I think that the foot pockets are the most comfortable that I have ever worn.... Having said that my foot is WIDE, flat and long.... Looks like you ran over sasquatch with a steam roller... Most all fins I have dove in are too narrow... Not the spora subs.

The blades are definately soft. They don't compare to the omer milleniums which are my main fin. Currents really call this fin out and it falls short.

I like them for the comfort, but I don't dig the power factor... Thats all I've got to say about that....

I think the Cressi Gara are a good choice for your first freedivng fins. They are cheap, durable and have good power for the value.

Nate,

I have a pair of spora sub pockets mated up to a pair of omer millenium blades that are comfortable on my abnormally wide foot.

I have the spora sub instinct fins which are an one piece fin and as I said above the foot pockets are a little slice of heaven on my feet... Unfortunately the blades cant be swapped... Sucks...

I have tried omer foot pockets and found them to be slightly too narrow for me.

The cressi's that everybody loves are torture on my feet an cause sever cramps almost instantly.

I swam in a pair of riffe fins only once and you guessed it... too narrow...

To date, the spora subs both the instinct and the two piece fins are the only thing working for me. I have been told that Piccaso has a wide pocket, but I have yet to test drive them...

I have a wide foot with high instep. Have a pair of Gara 2000 and a pair of Sporasubs with CF blades. The Gara are fairly comfortable, but the 2000 blade is a bit stiff for surface swimming. The 3000 is probably better for spearfishing.

The Sporasub pockets are very comfortable. Mine are big enough to wear a 3mm sock inside.
