The guy sits on the freakin' bottom for over a minute:smthumbup: I love how he lets the gun go when he first starts down.... STYLE, I LIKE IT!!
Gixxer 06-12-2008, 12:56 AM all of his vids are sick. I watched all of em when Teh got me into spearing last year. Do a search for herbert nitsch (sp?) and watch him freedive the blue hole for fun.
Yeah, I've seen those too, I just am really impressed when somebody can "hang out" at depth. Dynamic apnea is less mental in my opinion, you just have to zone out and kick. Hunting that deep, however, takes incredible self control, and a precise sense of timing.
Teh Wicked 06-12-2008, 03:56 AM Amazing, simply amazing. Very impressive to say the least...
Gixxer 06-12-2008, 08:24 AM I know we were talking about it earlier, I wonder if Herbert made 1000fsw yet.
chuckd 06-12-2008, 09:14 AM is the cameraman on scuba/rebreather??
is the cameraman on scuba/rebreather??
I wondered the same thing, maybe an ROV :D
threw-er-back 06-12-2008, 12:04 PM very cool..is his snorkel in his mouth?? you freeswimmers do that normally?
I cant remember looking at Gamble with his dashing good looks under water..:D
JLittle44 06-12-2008, 12:58 PM A scuba diver wouldn't have ben able to come up from 120 that fast. The cameraman is a hell of a diver too.
Nice responsible surface support.
AristaKat 06-12-2008, 03:07 PM Man I was out yesterday and attemped to go to bottom at 22ft to look for sand dollars and teeth and I COULDN'T make it. Thats just sick how someone can do that. I would love to take a class but not sure where to go and heard good classes our always full. So I will stick to hanging a tank on my back.:smnotworthy:

I've heard different thoughts on keeping the snorkel in the mouth vs. spitting it.
Personally, I keep it in. Just feels more natural
ApneaSpearo 06-13-2008, 07:04 PM I remove the snorkel just before making the dive, it takes a little getting used to but you will feel even more comfortable in the water without having the snorkel in your mouth, give it a shot. Plus, if you remove the snorkel prior to the dive then it won't release a stream of bubbles as you dive which I think can alert fish to your presence.
That vid is a classic, it sucks that you can dive 120 feet in the med on a nice wreck and not see a single fish.

No doubt, not even a grunt :D

:redcard: This is a family forum, Sir. Kindly keep your off color remarks to yourself.
:D
I'm a snorkel spitter as well, for what it's worth.
Dive safe this weekend,
Andrew
Gixxer 06-13-2008, 10:56 PM Snorkel spitter here... I hate the suction from the valve lock up.
kjflyfish 06-13-2008, 11:22 PM Spit that snorkel! If you have a samba or blackout, a snorkel is a direct conduit to your lungs.
kjflyfish 06-13-2008, 11:35 PM This one is even more impressive. William Trubridge no fins, no wetsuit, blue hole arch. 60m deep, 30m horizontal overhead. He's also from the town that I live in.

Gixxer 06-14-2008, 10:23 AM He did that with NOTHING and scuba divers have died there. Simply amazing. He's one of those guys you never let enter the SPO freediver division. It just would not be fair for the rest of us.
not fair for the rest of us
Speak fo yo self fool :D
Aaron Proffitt 06-15-2008, 11:40 AM That's some awesome footage.

I also spit mine out for the same reasons. Moreover, if you pass out, water has less of a chance of getting into your lungs.

Amen Brotha
stevemc1 06-23-2008, 08:50 PM I say spit it out, as if you keep it in, water will invariably get back in your mouth when you hit the surface. That is the last thing you want when you have been down a while and you really dont have any air left and you need to get a big breath at the surface-not a shot of water right down your throat. Plus like they say it will bubble for 10-15 seconds on the way down. Its one thing when its shallow, but not deep.
