1986 Mako 228, 1997 225 XL Mercury, SS Prop, Bennett Trim Tabs, VHF, Hard Top. Boat is sitting atop a 2003 Magic Tilt trailer.
The story on the engine is best summarized by a quote from a Merc guy on another forum: "2002 or newer EFI powerhead sitting on top of a 97 carb midsection with Opti cowls. The 2002+ EFIs had the OptiMax style intake and Merc's PCM03 processor that is SmartCraft compatible where as the older engines had the CDM/black box computer setup for analog only applications. At any rate, it's a good engine that should last for thousands of hours, albeit a little thirsty. I know of a charter captain that has 4000 hours on his 225 EFI with original powerhead and gearcase and still running strong! The PCM on the starboard side should indicate the hp and model as well."
This is a boat my cousin traded in at his car lot. The boat needs some work, but it would make an awesome dive boat. Cuz says $9,400 or make him an offer. He will deal on this boat. Call him. His name is Mike and he can be reached @ 386-212-7269. Boat is located in the Daytona Beach area.
