Wahooooooooooo! :bounce:

Spearfishing Planet is the best. I was happy to enter just to keep the 'planet turning. The content and the folks here are first-class and I'm thrilled to be a part of the community.

Many thanks to the sponsor of the contest, Ken Jones of Deathstick Spearguns.

If anyone can weigh in on customizations, I would appreciate it- I've only shot mass-produced guns. This is like champagne for the Miller drinker :)

Damn it Grauer, you were supposed to rig that thing so that I won it!!!

I wouldn't be so cross if I hadn't grabbed Fiz's deathstick the other day and shot it.

The difference between shooting his deathstick and my 52 commercial (which I love by the way), was like the difference between shooting my 20 gauge quail gun and my 12 gauge duck gun. They both get the job done, but the deathstick is a lot more manueverable and easier to tote.

When is the next raffle, or do I need to just break down and pay retail?

I hope that we can do another raffle for the FRA at the St. Pete Open Keith.

I just got off the phone with Ken and we discussed the type of hunting and environment I shoot and he guided me through the selection process. His one restriction was that it couldn't be painted Carolina Blue (not a problem, since I went to NC State).

I decided on a:

55" rear-handle (Black)
Enclosed track (Red!)
Burmese teak in its natural glory
Spare shaft holder
Cut for twin 5/8" bands
Weighted butt to compenstate for 2nd shaft
Convertible almost-patented free-or-lineshaft setup

I'm also buying a second shaft.

The best news is that he's got a gun that's almost complete with a little tweaking which will fit the bill perfectly and will be complete in a few weeks.

Fish, you have been warned- in July the Deathstick will be on the prowl in NC! :BoomSmilie_anim: :fish:

Thanks again, SFP and Deathstick Spearguns!

great choice. put 20-22" bands on that biatch and you only need one band for free shafting.

i just rigged my 55" deathstick with 2- 22" gray bands and a 60inch shaft with permanent line system and a california-made slip-tip for the AJ's and Cobia.

Ken's lineshaft system is awesome.

I won a Death Stick a couple years ago and I love it. I use it skindiving while my Wong sits on the deck! It shoots straight, easy to load, no line problems and the bands last a long time! Ken has a great product! I'm thinking of selling my Hybrid and buying another Death Stick!!
