Are you ready for BIG governmnet? Just another way of taking away more of your money at the pump.

I'm not even sure how to respond to that. That's a truly frightening thought. It may be time to pull a Sarandon come November.

Kahuna 06-19-2008, 05:15 PM I keep telling you guys its time to start over. We should vote them ALL OUT.
Marcus 06-19-2008, 05:22 PM If you think gas is high now, just wait until the government gets a hold of it.
Libertarian Bob Barr for President.
snowstopsspears 06-19-2008, 05:31 PM Libertarian Bob Barr for President.
I firmly believe that Bob Barr is no better than either the Republican or Democratic nominee for President. He's a faux libertarian at best, as evidenced by his seemingly opportunistic adoption of the party in recent years. Irrespective of his opposition to "sunset clauses," the man did vote for the Patriot Act.
I'm not sure where I'm going with this (apart from taking it to the logical conclusion that douchebaggery is now systemically endemic to American politics).
Whatever. I need to go for a dive this afternoon to forget about all of this shit.

firefyterx 06-19-2008, 07:11 PM WOW Scarry... very very scarry!
Prodigal Son 06-19-2008, 08:21 PM Wow. I suspect that things are only going to get worse. The Dems already taste an Obama victory and complete control of our government for at least 2 years, so they feel brazenly confident in laying down some their cards. First it was taking control of public education "in the best interests" of children. Then it wants to take control over medical care (including medical education and the selection of who gets into medical schools), again in our "best interests". Now it's taking over the single most precious commodity in the world, what little we have of it...again, in the people's "best interest". If this is the kind of "change" the Democrats (along with a lot of self-serving Republicans) want to institute, then I think we as a country are in BIG trouble.:banghead:

Yeah, Howard, in a word - we're fucked. Time to go kill some fish while we're still able to do so without fear of incarceration.

I hate to feel this way about our government, but I just don't see any viable solutions with the current 2 parties. Congress is a mess. I look at Obama and McCain, and I feel sick to my stomach. I was really hoping Obama would be a viable candidate. However, I just don't believe that a leopard loses his spots that easily. I smell a horrific bait-and-switch if he gets elected, but McCain is just business as usual.
I wish I can take your advice. Have you been able to dive? Dive conditions have been pretty screwed up from the shore the past week or so.

Howard,
My plan was to sneak out this afternoon after work, but I had to postpone my recreational activities on account of work-related social nonsense. I'm going to try to get out tomorrow afternoon. The swell doesn't look too nasty, so barring any poor conditions reports between now and then I'm going to hit it up. I'll shoot you a PM if I head out to let you know how things are.

100days-a-year 06-20-2008, 03:16 PM Amazing how the normal shills for the increased socialization of America haven't stepped up here to defend this.

Because some ideas are just stupid.
Now if we could produce enough oil locally not to have to buy ANY foreign oil, it would start to make more sense, but since we'd still have to BUY the majority from foreign markets, its just a dumb Idea...

That was funny. Chavez can pull that shit in Venezuela because he is not dependent of foreign oil. Shit, gas was 12 cents a liter last time I was there...

Wow...simply wow. At least she came out and stated what was already obvious about many on her side of the aisle. I hope Obama picks her for VP instead of Hillary. He'll be assured of having a political soulmate to look out for him, rather than someone (and her husband) who'll stab him in the back every chance she gets
Relapse 06-20-2008, 09:20 PM The bish came right out and said it, didn't she?:circle:
Wayward Son 06-20-2008, 09:53 PM I'm predicting that if the obasm wins, we're all going to be looking back at the good old days of bush 43.
Relapse 06-21-2008, 04:40 PM Or ahead to the good times in CR.
