The decision for a few isn't very difficult. While our friends were battling it out in 5 ft visibility in 7 mil suits shooting well fed pets in little holes 15 feet below the surface, we pushed into the bluewater and made memories for a lifetime in only a few short hours. WIthin minutes of entering the water and well before the sun was to rise Craig was in the water and chased into the legs of the oil rig by a pack of sharks who rule the night apparently and didn't appreciate his intrusion.
After a bit of scolding for the boat driver, (and some talking back under my breath of course about him being a ninny), we had some good warm up dives chasing Blackfin Tunas.
Watching Craig shoot the first YFT of the day was incredible and as he dove down with the kill gun another school of tunas filed past. Of course he altered to intercept and the opportunity to have two hefty fish on at once was mere inches out of reach.
We finished the day with 3 nice tunas the smallest 58 lbs and the largest just shy of 80. Two big dolphin and some small Blackfins for good measure.
Can't wait to go again. Hope everyone dives safe this weekend and no one catches pneumonia or see's any white belly seal eaters up on the NW coast of Cali. Poor bastards.
