richt 06-22-2008, 08:49 PM Just wanted to say thanks to all the Southern Open volunteers! You all did a fantastic job!
Thanks to all the organizers. You did an excellent job and should be very pleased with todays results.:toast:
And finally... thank you to all the great sponsors!! Without all of you it wouldnt be nearly as fun!:allhail:
I'm already looking forward to next year!:bounce:
kmoose 06-22-2008, 10:45 PM Many thanks from the Lacasse family to Bill, Scott and all the volunteers for a great tournament. The venue was way better than last years and Gator's was a thumbs up for food, drink and atmosphere.
The Southern Open is definitely the funnest touney on the block and this was no exception. I logged over 1000 miles between truck and boat going back and forth from captains meetings and running offshore and all were well worth it!
I am so proud of my little girl, sleeping right now as I type. It is days like this that you just can't buy. A special Thanks to my wife Melissa and my friends, Jesse and Scott for all the boat support and mental aguish I put you guys through for this thing.
hogsniper 06-22-2008, 10:53 PM The tournament went incredibly well in it's new location, with a new president, in a temporary tent. Great bunch of volunteers helped to keep everything running smooth. Big thanks to Bill Hardman and Scott Childress for their hard work over the past few weeks putting the sponsors and trophies together. I think the new venue will help this event to grow again next year.
Last year's decision to move the weighin to Sunday sure saved alot of teams that experienced boat problems on Saturday.
Screen Name 06-22-2008, 11:56 PM Rich hit the target, thanks for a great job by all! :smnotworthy:
In addition to that, those were some of the best fish that I've seen at the SO in a long time and the competition was fierce..........and every penny earned goes back to the divers.
Congrats to Rickey, who is a top notch guy, and to everyone else who did well. Those trophies were awesome!
Jaizzen 06-23-2008, 09:45 AM Sincere thanks to the sponsors, volunteers, and everyone associated with making this tournament alot of fun.
Great venue, great tournament.
Thanks again, Jason
Blind Squirrel 06-23-2008, 09:51 AM For a new location, it sure didn't seem like it. You all did such a great job, it felt like you had been running it at that location forever. Big kudos to Bill and his volunteers. Now, if he could just order up a little better weather for next year:D
M Diesel 06-23-2008, 10:03 AM Definitely a great put together tourney. First Class for sure. Thanks to everyone who had a part in putting it together and making it happen.
NSEARCH 06-23-2008, 10:15 AM My family and friends had a great time attending the weigh-in yesterday. Thank you to all the sponsors, without you these great tournaments just couldn't be the same. :toast:
Thank you to all the volunteers who showed up at Aquatic Obsessions & Gators early Sunday morning to help set up and assist throughout the day. You guys and gals are the behind the scene workforce that cements all the hard work before the tournament which enables it all to come together perfectly.
One of the best attributes of this tournament is that all the clubs within the FSDA come together and work side by side to host one of the best tournaments that this state has to offer. Then to top that ALL the proceeds from the tournament go back to support divers rights  Thank you to all the FSDA officers and club reps who worked to make this years Southern Open a success!!
Congratulations to all the photography winners and to all the participants who weighed in fish because whether or not you took home a trophy we were all winners on Sunday for having to deal with those storms on Saturday!! I thought I never I could be hypothermic during the middle of June with 80+ degree water! That rain was so damn cold that it felt as if the rain had been sucked up from the Gulf of Alaska and then deposited on the Gulf of Mexico.
In my opinion the biggest moment of the weigh-in was when the 2nd time winner of the Woman and Junior division Shelby Lacasse turned over her trophy to the runner up Junior winner, Julian Anchinges. Julian and his Dad were very grateful and honored. That kind of class, consideration, and sportsmanship is hard to find and it was just awesome to see it in the younger ranks of this great community. :smnotworthy:
Bottom Waits 06-23-2008, 10:57 AM Thanks to everyone who made this possible and what a class young lady Shelby is, good job KMoose and family. Looking forward to next year. And about that weather, my infamous quote "Don't worry, it's going to lay down nice a little later on":D
Bottom Dweller 06-23-2008, 03:32 PM Thanks to everyone who helped out yesterday and the preceeding weeks. Bill really worked hard on this tourney and deserves major thanks!! Thanks to Howie and AJ for keeping the weigh in line moving and everyone else that entered scores and data. Thanks to Chris H. for steeping in at the last minute to again run one of the scales. Thanks again to Gators for providing the great venue. I believe we set a Southern Open record for number of shooters at this tournament and believe next year will be even bigger. The venue has a great deal to do with this as well as the great volunteers we always have running it. Thanks Again!
