So the base BX has a deal on a underwater camera and im curious if anyone has any experience with them or if they are any good.
The camera is a Intova IC600 6.0MP digital camera with a waterproof housing that claims its good to 180fsw., 3x optical, 4x digital and 12x combined zoom, 2.4" color LCD Screen.
The whole deal for the camera and housing is $199, but If I order it online I got a code for another $10 off.
Is it worth buying or am I just wasting money?

In my experience, you get what you pay for. I'm a Sea & Sea girl, myself. Had their 750G for a couple years as my starter camera and just upgraded to the new 1G Islander package a couple of months ago.....sweet! It's worth the $$$$. Quality is everything. Sea & Sea is a long established company that stands behind their products.
Good Luck.
I don't know....digital cameras have come a long way and some things that were very expensive and innovative before are rather common and ridiculously cheap now...(just look at the price of memory 2gb of SD memory less than $20). Hard to go wrong with a set up that costs less than $200 including the housing. I just looked and found it for $150 here: http://www.adorama.com/UWIC600.html?sid=1214627716908519
Your question may prompt me to get one just to try it out. BTW do you know how much a $1500 camera is worth after it gets soaked......about the same as a $150 one. Look online for any reviews on the camera. I will do the same and post anything pertinent I come across. If you decide to get one keep us posted.

You are right. You can't go wrong for the money. It is an excellent camera and incredibly tough. At the DEMA show the Intova reps were slamming the housings on the ground and then firing up the cameras and taking photos like nothing!
I have the 6MP and the newer 7MP also. I have taken some great photos with both cameras. They are rated to 180fsw, mine acts up around 170 with buttons depressing by themselves, but no flooding.
I did flood my 6MP last summer. It was my fault and after explaining this to the maufacturer and sending them the flooded camera and housing, they sent me a brand new product at no charge. The camera was a year old at that time too. I have 100 dives with my new 7MP and no issues at all.
I think picture quality is comparable to any other point & shoot. I paid a little more than what you can find them for discounted on the net, but i prefer to support my local dive shops, and I think it is easier to get good customer service if you run into a problem.
