View Full Version : St. Pete Open Rule Changes
Bucket One 07-02-2008, 04:58 PM We have made two rule changes this year for the Womens and Juniors division. This is one that should've been done a long time ago and your voices have been heard.
For the Womens and Juniors division "ALL" 7 fish categories will count towards your total aggregate score to determine the winners. Before you could turn in cuda/cobia and amberjack but they didn't count towards your total score. Now all 7 fish count and as like before you can turn in one fish per catergory with each fish counting up to 20 points. If your fish weighs 20 lbs it counts as 20 points and if your fish weighs 30 lbs it still counts as 20 points.
This scoring does not not help you pic off the prize table yet only determines the winners in Womens and Juniors division. Your pic off the prize table will still be what ever fish places you highest to pic.
Happy Hunting!
Bucket One 08-03-2008, 10:25 PM We are having two rule chages this year and it is thanks to NMFS.
First is a rule that is going into effect August 5th for Amberjack. Starting the 5th all Amberjck must be 30 inches to the fork so the new tournament rule will be 30 inches to the fork for Amberjacks.
The second rule change is Red snapper. With Red Snapper closing on August 5th on the gulf coast and to make the playing field even for everyone. Even though Red Snapper are open in the Atlantic. Red snapper are out of the tournament. It would really suck to bring one in from the east coast and try to defend yourself against the FWC on where you got it. So to make everything easy for everyone and this rule was voted on and it was ruled that this was the best way of avoiding conflict. We had to take Red snapper out.
The two new rules are in the shooter/sponsor books given out at the captains meeting and will be announced at the captains meeting a 8:30.

Quit whining. We are saving you a couple of hundred dollars in fines
Everyone better make it to the captain's meeting for other last minute rule changes. I've heard a rumor about eliminating deep water species and adding an additional category for slippery dick.
Bubblejunkie 08-07-2008, 11:43 PM Bullspit, not hard to show which coast fish was shot on, FWC arnt that stupid although real close at times lately.:cussing:Just another Bogus excuse to keep the struggling white man down.
I really dont care though, it is, what it is, I'll have a good time anyway:biggrinangelA:
Bucket One 08-08-2008, 03:33 AM Hey Kenny,
If you close your eyes really hard and image what I'm holding up on my hand with a finger sticking up, you should get the picture.:D
Hey you could always shoot the Key Largo tournament and get your way.:banghead::eek:
catfish 08-10-2008, 01:41 PM why not change the lobster to stone crabs and the east coast guys could just stay home. You must have forgot the biggest sheephead came from sebastian too. What can you change that to.

Dude, the decision isnt against our East coast brothers at all. There are more big Mangos and Cuberas on the East Coast, in addition to the lobsters and sheepshead. That's why west coast guys drive over to the East coast.
It's mainly a matter of trying to stay out of trouble with the FWC. :toast:
ChumBucketsGirl 08-13-2008, 08:03 PM Being one of the female competitors I am excited to be able to shoot all catagories this year. See you all this weekend.......
Teh Wicked 08-13-2008, 08:59 PM I for one like the new Red snapper rule, us east coast guys has no chance unless a big Cubera was to be found. Mangrove's just dont cut it against those big east coast Red's.
Also the rule for the Women and Juniors is a great idea, should attract a few more participants than normal. My money is still on little Lacasse, is that how you spell it?
American Spearit 08-14-2008, 01:28 AM Teh, call me stupid and drunk. And yes, I just got back from the winghouse. So yes I'm drunk. But when then the hell did you become a east coast guy. I'm just a little drunk and confused from your post. B.T.W. you missed a really cool shoot-out with tons of free beer and food. Thank you R.Z. and everyone else who threw in. Oh and Teh, It's, we have no chance. Not we has no chance. And I'm freakin drunk. But we all still love you Brandon. Peace out. See you at the Sunspree.
