Anyone seen or used the Apnea fins?
I won a pair in the polespear tourny. I imagine they are the plastic but I was thinking of apying to upgrade to the composite pair. Any thoughts?

Those are pretty new. I'm not sure what type of composite they are but if they are like the Matrix that's good. If they are like the Sporasub Grafiber thats bad.

And most plastic fins are pretty equal unless you are diving really deep. The more important thing is the fin pocket fit. The most comfortable fin pocket will give you the most enjoyment. You can always switch the blades to something that suits you more. BTW it seems the Matrix (flat blade) are going down in value as more people try the edge fins (bent blade) so you may be able to pick up some of those pretty cheap.

don't buy the apnea fins, they are too new and not proven. Omer Rekord 3's are much better, they are worth the extra money. they are also better than matrix fins.

As for the fins, my buddy uses them and I have tried them.

What the hell is a polystigma? One who is held to be of multiple stigmas

All fins are made by 3 major manufacturers, like composits and stiffnesses are going to perform about the same, the only difference is buying into the marketing message that these "fins" will make you a better diver.

Martin, You might lead some poor noob to believe you but most of the divers on here (for now) or not newbies.

So you're not one to buy things that are new and unproven? How many years did you wait after the Riffe Euro came out before buying it?

Your recommendation for the Rekord 3's, is that based on extensive personal testing, or did you sit with the most experienced freedivers and listened to their analysis of those fins? Of course it wouldn't have anything to do with Brandon just posting his endorsement of them...like a half an hour ago on SB, WOULD IT???

I can give you shitty reports from up North if you like but I doubt they are much help.

Went out to the San Mateo Backyard to look for flatties. Vis was shit on the sand so I went out to the wreck and rocks to look for big lings. Vis was better (10') but didn't see any large lings worth shooting. Oh yeah not much bait and the thermocline was there which may have pushed out the flatties.

LJ Sunday: incredible vis. best in months. Gamefish= NONE:( Dove 6am-10:30am and ened up with one small YT, but he tasted good:D
