I'm participating in a marine debris clean-up on Friday (July 25) & we're looking for locations/numbers where the bottom needs cleaned. We'll be SCUBA diving for any marine debris-fishing line, trap debris (we have a special permit for this), anchors & line, etc. The clean-up will be off of Marathon, so I need numbers in this vicinity. If you have other numbers and want to send them, I'll put them on a list for possible future clean-ups. For this one though, the focus will be Marathon.
If you know spots where traps are resting on coral heads, anchor line is wrapped around the reef, or there are wads of monofilament, please send them to me. Also, if you have numbers for buoys of traps that have been left out, send those as well. We can pick up those, too.
Preferably, we'll dive shallower sites if we can find them in order to be safer while diving. This is a pilot effort, so in the future, we may be able to tackle the deeper stuff. Thanks everyone!
