Got out today with njspearo and nyer.
Tanks and freedive.
Wind 5-10
Seas maybe 1ft
Current light to the West
Temp nice in a 3mm hooded
Vis 10-20ft
Decided with the forcast to make a longer run to the West. As we ran West vis looked like shit so we kept on running.........it never improved.... 10-20ft.
After freediving most of the day njspearo and I decided to do a drop on a little spot I have out West. As we decended I could not get past 30ft because of conjestion and my tooth felt like it was going to explode. Njspearo kept to the plan and continued the dive solo as I surfaced really freakin pissed. As he was dropping out of sight I saw what looked like a 7ft shark rush him closing to within 3ft of his head.....I started to yell through my reg........at this time flipper turned and b-lined out there, njspearo never even saw him.
Njspearo surfaced and was yelling about all the freakin huge fish he saw and the 30lb cubera he shot in the ass only to have the shaft pull.......Next time.
Ended up calling it a day when the VHF started to say " All mariners expect 35-40kt wind with approaching storm front". We could see the approaching storm and I knew I had to go straight through it to get home. Ran all the way in and the winds never came over 10kts. Better safe than sorry.......Thanks NOAA.
All in all good day with some great spearfisherman.
