Went out yesterday morning and took a shot at the trolling thing.. As we crossed the reef a little east of sand key vis was great so we were excited about coming back to the reef after trolling.. Anyways, we trolled for an hour or two and only caught a couple small schoolies..not even legal. And we also caught a baby wahoo, i'd guess around 12 inches and we released him. Got bored of trolling and came back to the reef around the bar and there was nasty green water on the reef ( i'm guessing the west current was pulling it from the harbor?), so we ran west hoping to see some clearer water to no avail. Headed to the marquesas to try and get a few fish in the box around there and jumped in on a secret spot and dove down and immediately had a big mutton appear right next to me and he gave me an easy shot and i made quick work of him. He went 28" and probably 10-12lbs.. Hit a couple more spots and picked up some average keys hogs and a 21" red grouper. Then we were greeted with 20knot winds and we called it a day.. Vis was shootable around the marquesas, but not great, maybe about 20ft. but it was green. Water was comfortable with no suit.

Also, the interesting part.. I was freediving a shallow wreck around the marquesas and noticed a barracuda on the bottom all lit up and flexing his jaw. I was hovering about 10ft off the bottom and he turned straight up at me and started to kick up at me with his mouth wide open. I was luckly able to swing my gun in between us and almost shot him straight down the mouth.. After that he took off and swam a loop around the wreck checking me out.. First time i have ever had one come at me unprovoked like that..

I had a similar incident a few weeks ago in Port St. Lucie. The cuda rushed us and was acting all erratic. I don't always shoot them unless I'm having a slow day. Shot this one which was a good thing as I owed a some filets for a few folks.
