View Full Version : Girl attacked by Bull Shark in Islamorada 2fastlx 08-08-2007, 09:16 PM Check this out, my buddy was the medic on scene and he said it was pretty nasty:eek: http://www.local10.com/news/13850196/detail.html jerry1001 08-08-2007, 10:08 PM sucks to hear that least she still has her life... Houka Spear 08-09-2007, 10:59 AM Im not suprised, i was by there a few weeks ago and with all the charter boats and them dumping what ever in that water , man she had some balls or had Mambo Dave 08-09-2007, 12:25 PM That's what I'm thinking - a food place right on the water... you know the tarpon and such are used to going into feeding mode from people throwing stuff in (at least that's the way it's been at most south Florida water-side restaurants I've been to - except for the higher class restaurants...). The sharks probably get that way, too. Heck, that's the whole reason Florida spearfishing clubs petitioned the tourist dive community to stop feeding the sharks - the were getting too familiar, and too close, to divers for everyone's safety. Stealthdiver 08-09-2007, 01:16 PM I was thinking the same... about the worst place you could swim with all the junk being dumped in the water. I don't know for sure but i'd guess the worst visibility would be in that area also...not a swimmers delight ! Gary H 08-09-2007, 01:40 PM That is really sad. Hopfully she will heal physically and mentally and have a great life. The visibility at Bud & Mary's dock is usually really good. Fish are cleaned at their cleaning tables every day, so there is always plenty of chum in the water. Tarpon have always been swimming around any time I've been there. You'll usually see lots of nurse sharks laying on the bottom in the channel leading up to there. mhuskey 08-09-2007, 01:58 PM I just got back from staying at B & M doing a little lobstering and there is a alage bloom in the water right now and you cannot see the end of your hand while in the water. Mambo Dave 08-09-2007, 04:56 PM The visibility at Bud & Mary's dock is usually really good. Fish are cleaned at their cleaning tables every day, so there is always plenty of chum in the water. Ooh, a restaurant AND chum in the water! With all that going for it, I'm just not sure why it hasn't been designated a National Kiddie Swimming Pool area yet... That is really sad. Hopefully she will heal physically and mentally and have a great life. Joking aside, I really hope the same. With the way the news article stated it, I hope they find a way to get her full dexterity of her hand and fingers - she's got a long, tough road ahead of her. Maybe there should be "No Swimming" signs next to any area that has fish cleaning stations, fishing boats dropping chum and, perhaps (depending on the circumstances) next to any waterside restaurant? KEYSKILLER 08-09-2007, 07:47 PM kevin federline is in the bed with her:rofl: 2fastlx 08-09-2007, 07:57 PM kevin federline is in the bed with her:rofl: LMAO:lol: mnguy 08-09-2007, 08:02 PM Silverman said people at Bud and Mary's told her they had spotted bull sharks in the water around the marina in recent days. Probably not the sharpest spoon in the drawer. Sucks that it happened either way though. Gunny 08-11-2007, 01:00 PM kevin federline is in the bed with her:rofl: Too bad for the girl and i hope she makes a full recovery,.............but that kfed crack is funny shizit Killentime 08-11-2007, 02:21 PM LOL brad "oops he did it again" :) Jess 08-12-2007, 09:41 AM heard yesterday that it was a barracuda, not a shark at all. |
