We are from St. Pete. and was down there in May. Do yourself a favor and just charter. There are so many areas that are no take/ no fishing zones, that made our heads spin!!!! We went to a West Marine for supplies and was asking an employee of all the rules and regulations of Key Largo.He told us to be careful of all the rules and regulations. We jokingly asked him if he could take us out...he said as a matter of fact he did charter business on the side.

If you do rent a boat, be careful!!!
