View Full Version : Light kit for SS Commercial? Narc'd 08-18-2008, 06:57 PM anyone know if there is a flashlight kit that screws into the muzzle or something on the SS Commercial? Thanks hogsniper 08-18-2008, 08:19 PM There is a light bracket made for the gun. Call Kevin at Spearfishing Specialties at 727.323.7686. chuckd 08-18-2008, 08:25 PM chad carney and stu daneman make them also, with double shaft holders too...i never liked the extra forward muzzle weight IMO :fish: Narc'd 08-18-2008, 09:03 PM Thanks guys, I will check it out. Gotta pimp out that sweet SS commercial I won at the SPO! Keith8h 08-18-2008, 09:19 PM Narcd, I tried Charney's light holder. The commercial Rhino muzzle is too wide for that light holder to fit well. I custom cut one out of a piece of 1/2 thick starboard. It was held on the muzzle with a single screw and the light press fit into it, held by a wire tie. Like Chuckd, I never liked the way it made the gun feel. If you're interested in it, I'll give it to you for a donation of your choosing to the FRA. I'm in St. Pete, let me know if you have any interest. Narc'd 08-18-2008, 10:56 PM Huh, something to think about for sure... I will try shooting it without for now (never shot a commercial before, always shot Riffe and Wong) and might rattle your cage on it after... Thanks for the info guys. now if this f'ing weather would clear up.... Megabeast 08-19-2008, 02:05 AM Putting a light on the end of a gun is only good for night diving. If you put a gun in the cave and it has a light on it, there's a good chance the fish is going to freak out and silt the hole. Do it the right way, aim the gun into the suspect hole, use the silhouette (I butchered the spelling on that one) if there is one and after you're aiming in the general direction, then turn your light on. Fish HATE HATE HATE HATE lights. Also, a couple other thoughts I had later. 1, that gun is a freeshaft gun and shooting freeshafts in caves is usually a bad idea. Obviously you need the light on the muzzle for cave shooting. 2, if you've been shooting Riffes/Wongs for awhile you're going to hate that silly line system on the commercial gun. Remove it or improve it. Spear One 08-19-2008, 06:58 AM Thanks guys, I will check it out. Gotta pimp out that sweet SS commercial I won at the SPO! Congrats on winning the 52 Commercial. If you decide to install a light holder, make sure you do not drill/screw into the muzzle area of the gun. Also, make sure you properly seal inside any holes you drill with polyurethane/varnish to prevent water intrusion. Be advised, the single loop line on a Commercial gun is prone to hanging/catching on light holders mounted under the barrel. Be careful! Better to hold the light in your hand with these guns IMO. Narc'd 08-19-2008, 09:44 AM Good info guys thanks  this will be just used for freeshafting goldenpheasant 08-21-2008, 06:03 PM I made my own with a 1/4 by 2 1/2 piece of oak. Drill 2 mounting holes to screw on the gun. Drill 4 holes and tie wrap the little flashlight to the mount. Takes about 10 minutes. If you want you can dip in polyurathane a couple of times before you mount it. mark:toast: caseyc 08-23-2008, 07:34 AM I shoot the same gun and with a spareshaft or 2 on the side of it, it almost makes it impossible to hold up the weight of the gun and the light at the same time. The other problem I have is when I do hold the gun out and the light with my other hand, the light wont shine far enough ( I have tried many) into a ledge or wreck. Please let me know how the light works out for you. Thanks. threw-er-back 08-23-2008, 08:46 AM anyone know if there is a flashlight kit that screws into the muzzle or something on the SS Commercial?
