I should be selling my TUSA Sapience dive computer to someone local. With what I sell it for, I will be purchasing a new one that also has the freedive option. So, I wanted to know other spearos' opinions of their dive computers before I take the plunge. Any recommendations, or experiences of any kind positive or negative any of you have had with different computers would be great!

I'll post first. It's the only computer I've owned, and it is awesome!!!!

Tusa DC Sapience Wrist Dive Computer (IQ-800)

This dive computer is nice. I really like the vibrate function. I could imagine it being easy to miss the beeping sound that other computers make. With this thing on your wrist you have no choice but to look at it when it vibrates. Though sometimes it can get a bit annoying when you have made a small infraction of ascention. My only complaint is that it doesn't have a freediving function. Though the dive log shows minute by minute depiction of your dive, and that can suffice for freediving, but if you do that too many times from too great a depth the infraction lock out mode starts up. If you ascend too fast from too deep the computer will shut you out for 72 hours. Not good for freediving. Great computer though.

I voted for Suunto for the only reason that is the only brand I have used. Suunto makes a great computer with easy to read displays, and they are easy to navigate the menus. The only thing I dislike is they are a little too conservative. My computer goes into decompression while my buddies are just fine. I am starting to look for a computer that is a little more liberal.

I will be following this thread to see what the other guys use.

I prefer air-integrated with-a-hose computers (guess it won't help with your freediving). My first was a Suunto, and my latest is an Oceanic Pro Plus 2.

The Suuntos are nice, but very conservative. The oceanic is nicer- and liberal. I also have the pc-hookup cable and such and download all my dives, though I can't figure out why unless I want to post the graphs to have people help me annotate them.

liquivision F1 or x1 is the shiznet, but at over 1500 dollars it better talk to me and make me dive to 1000 ft.

I've really only used an Oceanic Pro Plus 2, so that's what I voted for. It's really easy to use, air integrated, and really big, easy to read numbers. Only Air/Nitrox capable, but that suits me just fine.

I don't see where I check SOS, Bendamatic?

Is that an actual computer/brand name. Google doesn't know about it.

I think it is made by the same company that sells the "OS" handle you mount on your tank!

Cetainly the Liquivision F1. I'm pissed that Eric discountinued it for the even more expensive X1.

For those who don't know, Eric not only is a genius freediving computer engineer, but he held the world freediving record for a brief time back when it was 83 Meters. Here is a pic. I am in the yellow hat kneeling at the far right and Eric is standing behind me on the far right. Three of the people in this photo are 200+ feet freedivers.

Hopefully he will bring a model like the F1 to the masses.

Alright, I've pretty much made my decision. Despite all the votes for Suunto, and the complete lack of votes for Cressi. I can't help but think this is a good decision. Especially since I've read so many reviews of the D3 that were bad. Some people have been through 2 or 3 and maybe more D3's in their time. This is a newer design, and hopefully will yield less problems for me. Any input before I purchase the Cressi EDY would be greatly appreciated.

The F1 is the ultimate wrist computer and if you can find one, win one, or have the money for one its wise to hold on to.

What type of diving do you do? My Oceanic Pro Plus 2 is a nice computer, but conservative as hell on the rigs. We dove Helldivers and had Fishkilla on board with us one day, and Helldiver John Griggs with us for a couple of days, and their computers were way more liberal and forgiving than ours, I never even busted 160fsw.

After voting for TUSA because it had been my only computer to date, I bought the CRESSI SUB EDY. This thing is awesome for freediving. I haven't used it yet for SCUBA, but I look forward to it. (if I can keep myself from freediving/spearfishing) This computer is everything you could possibly want in a computer I think. It is awesome. Makes you really realize what you're doing out there. I highly recommend it. If anyone has had a problem with their D3 and are looking to go another route. Check the EDY out. There is a good discription on the CRESSI-SUB website that will tell you all the technical details. I'll just say that it is freakin awesome.

I've been thinking about the X1. If it ever does come out I'd like to try one before I buy it.
I listened to everyone about the Vr3, But was disappointed with it after I dropped $1300 on the POS.
The computer works fine, But the VPM-B algorithm is not right. The shape of the deco is way different than what is advertised.

Check out the new Shearwater, that thing is bad azz and comes ready to go with no BS pin numbers.
The VPM on the VR-3 is for sure garbage but I have had no problems with the BUH.

Dago.

I just recently used the Cobra 2 from Suunto, it worked great and had a noticeable audible warning when my air got low. Display was nice and reable with an easy to turn on light. Digital compass worked great as well. I didnt dive deep enough to use the nitrogen features of the computer but I will try it this coming weekend. It was not the quick disconnect version...

Only problem I had with mine was the scuff guard was quite mangeled so it was hard to read the screen due to the scratches. But I cant really call that a complaint, it was a rental...

nice watch, it looks nice. I'm looking for a replacement for my D3, which has been a bad experience for me. I also want my next dive watch to look nice enough to be worn as a sports watch, unlike the D3.

I'm looking at Oceanic Geo and the cressi EDY, does anyone recommend any others?
